Recommend your OBGYN

I promise I tried to do a search and I was not able to find this. I am looking for a female OB in the greater Cincinnati area. I live in Maineville but work in Kenwood area however I am open to commuting for a great doctor. Thanks in advance ladies.

Re: Recommend your OBGYN

  • Are you going to TTC?  You might want to consider what hospital you'll be going to should that arise.

That being said, I LOVE Dr. Thompson with UC Health.  She always took time to answer every question I had, was on time for appointments, and was genuine.  When I delivered, she was supposed to be off at 6 but she stayed an hour late until Molly was born just to see what she was (I was team green and was delivered by another Doc).  A lot of people seem weirded out by University Hospital, but I had nothing but a great experience.  My MIL helped with SILs delivery the week after and said University was much better than Mercy Fairfield (where she delivered).  HTH!

I totally agree! I go to the OB/GYN clinic at Hoxworth (UC) and I am about to start seeing a specialist at Chirst (Dr Michael Thomas) but he is a UC Dr. They are fabulous if you ask me ;o)

  • Thanks ladies. I am not TTC just yet probably two years out but I want to have a solid OB by then.
  • I recommend Dr. Sandy Gardner.  Her office is up at Good Sam hospital.

Another vote for Dr. Thompson!  I am not TTC but everytime I have seen her she was awesome.  She always takes her time during the exam to answer all my questions and when I had problems with my IUD insertion and she called me twice to see how I was feeling.

  • I see Dr. Cindy Hansel at Crescent's Womens Medical Group. The lobby of their practice seems a bit chaotic to me, but also very welcoming. Dr Hansel is someone I'm really confident in and feel comfortable talking to about my lady bits. And they haven't run on time once when I've been there, but whenever that happens I always consider that they may have had some unexpected appts come in that need to be seen worse than my annual inspection - she does deal with pregnancies and sometimes there are emergencies in that field - that one day that could be me who needs to get in NOW and someone else will be waiting in the lobby. It gives me patience.

I'd rather be with a practice that will get in an emergency rather than ship a patient off to the ER with unfamiliar doctors in the interest of keeping their schedule running on time.

  • I don't know your situation, but if you have any kind of, err, reproductive issues, Dr. Jennifer Thie in Blue Ash is amazing. I have PCOS and she has been fantastic about working with me, explaining EVERYTHING that's going on and what to do about it (as opposed to my old doc who pretty much threw some meds at me and said, "here, your hormones are effed up, take these") and she's all about natural solutions. I ended up off all the meds I hated and I control it through diet and exercise now, which I never knew was possible! She's very easy to talk to and puts me at ease.

I'm not TTC but she works with a lot of people with fertility issues, too. The downside is that she's not an OB, so once patients get pregnant, she refers them out, although I would trust anyone she would refer me to.

The other downside - be prepared to schedule your appointment 6-9 months out. She is BUSY.

  • I really like Dr. Tara Knipper and Dr. Scott Firestein with Group Health Associates. I think they may go to their Kenwood location.

I go to For Women and see Dr.Wurzbacher. Love, love, love her. She called to check on me on her own personal time several times during my m/c.  Dr.Thomas's (metioned above) wife is also in this practice. It's nice to have an OB/GYN practice that works so closely with an RE office if you would ever  need it.  The have offices in Mt.  Auburn and Evendale.

Tell me more about this group. I saw them online when I was searching it sparked my interest because it has midmives and MDs.

  • Thanks guys this is why I love this site I have started researching and checking out sites. I rather spend the time searching now then when we are TTC.
  • I also see Dr. Cindy Hansel, who is awesome, easy to talk to, very professional yet relaxed. I've also seen Rhonda Whitten, one of the midwives, who was excellent and very knowledgeable. The nurses and ladies behind the desk are always so nice and helpful. If you're interested, I would call them ASAP because at times they aren't accepting new patients. Good luck!
  • Need to update on this if you're considering TTC - I was just at Dr. Hansel's office on Friday and it looks like they aren't doing pregnancy care anymore - only surgical and preventative care. There's a notice up everywhere they they'll be delivering the last of their pregnant patients in March 2012 and I confirmed with Dr. Hansel.

Looks like I'm OB shopping too so I can get a Dr chosen before I get pregnant.

ETA: I'm talking about Crescent Women's Medical Group - yes, applies to whole practice.
