Has anyone had trouble with their toddler shoving way too much food in their mouths? Kellen has not learned from his near choking experiences that he needs to take small bites. I usually cut up food pretty small, and only give him a little at a time (because he will throw 4 or 5 pieces in his mouth at once) but for bananas and things, we give him a chunk, and he will take the biggest bites!! Do they grow out of this? I am worried, because my DH and I are fast eaters that do the same, and I am trying to model better eating habits, but that means that I never get to finish a meal!!

Re: Toddler eating
Ella tends to shove a bunch in her mouth. THUS causing me to take a refresher course on 1st Aid/CPR
Mads does the same thing no matter how small I cut up the bites or even if I give her a larger piece of something (wanting her to take her own bites off of it) she will still often try and shove the whole thing in there. I try and take it out of her mouth (watch out for the teeth!) and then show her again to take bites not shove....it's a slow process over here! I feel ya!
PS How are you feeling??
Thanks Kala!
Feeling much better, finally out of the M/S stage- lasted WAY longer this time. Otherwise, doing great! Baby is kicking up a storm!! So much fun to feel my little swimmer!
Hope2send- good to know! It sounds like most of what I worry about just takes time for the LO to realize, learn and grow out of. Happy to hear that he may not follow in Big Mama's footsteps of shoveling in the food!
Mrs. Reem- we do the banana in 1/2, but haven't started with other foods. I may be doing that this week! Thanks for the suggestion!
