Selling a car on craigslist anyone?
Has anyone sold a car on craigslist? Do you have any tips or advice? Did you get close to blue book value?
Re: Selling a car on craigslist anyone?
We got good prices on two cars we sold on Craig's List, but it's been a few years.
As with any Craig's List ad, I'd just include as many details as you can and some decent photos, which will hopefully eliminate a lot of emails/phone calls asking you little questions.
And even then, my biggest piece of advice is to be patient. Craig's List seems to bring out a lot yahoos. We've had experiences with some pretty flaky people who say they're interested but don't show up to an appointment, annoying people low-balling us, etc.
Good luck!
I've sold stuff on CL but its always been small stuff. I think the biggest was my washer and dryer and a computer (each < 1K). This however, is a lot more money and I'm not sure how one transfers a large sum safely. Cashiers checks can be faked it seems and cash isnt an option really.

Possibly. I've read that they can dispute a charge though.. similar to a CC. I'll have to verify that is true. Thanks for the tip!

Even if they dispute a charge I imagine they'd have to prove they don't have the item sold to them. Since you have to transfer title to the new owner, I think the paper trail would be on your side.
You could also go to the bank with them to get the cashier's check. More work, but more guarantee.
