Should I postpone my bookclub?

I only have 4 confirmed guests...two of them are coming in from the suburbs so they'll be late if the do come...the other book clubs I've gone to have had 8+ girls and we're looking at possibly 5.

I know it's summer and people are busy; and I bought the food last night; should I reschedule or just have a more intimate meeting?

Re: Should I postpone my bookclub?

  • Did you ask the group? If not, start there. See if an alternate date works better for people, and if not, check with the 4 who are supposed to come to see if they're ok with it being small.

  • I think 5 sounds better than 8+, but I prefer a small book club to a big one.  It's summer, so changing the date is probably not going to change your attendance anyways.  Plus it's short notice to cancel on the people that planned to attend.

  • Two of them responded that they could go either way....and the other two haven't responded yet.

Mmmm, what to do.  The one sounds hesistant (they've moved to a new house within the past two months and with recent storms they haven't had power since Thurs)

Will the food you bought go to waste if you don't have it tonight or is it stuff you can save or stuff you'd normally eat anyway?  If it'd go to waste, I'd say have it tonight even if it's going to be small.
