The Voice (spoilers)

I have only seen half of last night's episode, but I have to say:

Adam Levine, WTF?!  Casey over Jeff?  That was nutso.  NUTS.  She's not that good.  Jeff is buckets more talented than she is.   Blake is usually the one making terrible decisions (Xenia).  This one reeks of producer intervention.

Re: The Voice (spoilers)

  • what else happened?  my stupid dvr didn't tape it!
  • We watched it last night.  IT was a good show.  As my DH said, it seemed to be obscure songs of the day.  Nakita did a Glambert song - What Do You Want from Me and it was pretty good.  Vicci Martinez did a song I had never heard of and it was awesome.  I may even download it (that is a HUGE statement).  Here is a link.  It was great - http://www.okmagazine.com/2011/06/watch-florence-and-the-machines-dog-days-covered-by-vicci-martinez-on-the-voice/

Frenchie did a gospel-ie rendition of  Like a Prayer and Christina was salavating.  Queen B (as Cee Lo calls her) did a Blues song.

Javier did a more "rock" song and took off his hat midway through.  It was okay, but I think everyone loves him so much it does not matter.

I liked Xenia, and don't really like Dia.  Dia did a rendition of an REM song - Losing My Religion.  I guess I just don't get her.

Maroon5 played their new song - it was not so great.  But, they all can't be winners I guess.

THe judges had to score each of their two contestants (100 total points).  Adam said he did his to ensure Javier would advance - I guess I am okay with that.  Christina and Blake both gave theirs each 50 points which I think is a total cop out.  Cee Lo did not do much better, he gave Nakia 51 and Vicci 49.

The final four are Beverly, Dia, Vicci, and Javier.

  • We just watched Tuesday's episode last night. Vicci had the absolute best performance of the evening...loved the use of the drums while she sang Florence and the Machine's Dog Days Are Over (love that song by the way!!).

I am not surprised by the top 4. Seemed pretty obvious after Tuesday's episode who would move on from each team. Honestly I felt like when Adam picked Casey over Jeff, he was completely setting it up for Javier to move on.

My prediction is that either Javier or Vicci wins.

  • My thoughts for this week, broken up by team...

    Team C Lo:

Vicci and Nakia were both awesome.  I hated that one of them had to go. They both have incredible power and stage presence.  I'm not sure I could have picked between them if I had to.  They both could win the whole thing.

    Team Blake:

Blake kept Xenia there WAY longer than he should have.  Yes, she has a cool tone to her voice, but she's not doing any original phrasing or giving a great performance.  She's 16, she's sweet, and she has a cool thing going.  But there were far more deserving people that should have been kept and allowed to compete.

Dia has a better voice, plus good stage presence and great music sensibilities.  She's actually making songs her own, instead of doing the karaoke version.  I can't see her winning the competition, but she'd make a good pop singer, a la

    Team Adam:

I agree, Adam L. set Javier up to go to the final four.  I was absolutely stunned when he picked Casey over Jeff, and thought that was a crap move, but now I can understand why he did it.  Javier has an incredible voice and has had bad luck in the industry.  Jeff has a great voice too, and he will get another chance.  Hopefully Casey just goes away.

    Team Christina:

Frenchie has never done it for me.  Not on Idol, not now.  I thought she should have lost in the very first battle round.  Beverly is awesome.  This week was my favorite performance of hers, b/c it seemed much more authentic.  She has a great voice, thought I'm not sure she can pull off winning the whole thing.

I think it's between Vicci and Javier.

  • Definately agree it is between Vicci and Javier.  After the first show and last week's show where he sung Angel I was for sure no one would come close to him.  But Vicci has been awesome and I think she is the underdog that could walk away with it.....  Javier needs to make an awesome song choice for the finalies
