Let's Interview TDMD!

Hi Meghan!

How did you react when you got your BFP?

What's your favorite song right now?

What's your favorite thing about summer?

What's your favorite scary movie?

Would YOU eat a live octopus for $1000?

Re: Let's Interview TDMD!

  • My bad, guess we didn't need two posts. LOL. I'll C&P my questions down there.

How did you react when you got your BFP?  It was so faint I kept squinting at it to make sure it was really there. DH is colorblind and I knew he wouldn't be able to see it, so I didn't say anything to him and went to work. I think I was in denial until I tested that evening and it was dark enough DH could see it.What's your favorite song right now? I found this artist on Pandora called Boyce Avenue. He does a lot of acoustic covers of songs, and I love his voice. He does one that's a mix of Beautiful Girls and Stand by Me that gives me chills. What's your favorite thing about summer? Ice cream. Hands down. What's your favorite scary movie? I hate scary movies.Would YOU eat a live octopus for $1000? No thanks.

Okay, what's the strangest thing you've seen in the ER? Man, this is a really hard one. Probably the strangest thing that's happened to me is when I had to catheterize this female patient to get a urine sample, and while I was doing the procedure she started singing to me about her cats. And everyone at the nurse's station could hear her.

have you ever had a day in the ER where you came home and cried? why? Yes and no. Nothing at work has made me cry (yet) while I was there, although on June 4th (my due date for my last pregnancy) a girl came into the area I worked in and was 9 weeks pregnant (like I was) and had a complete m/c in the room. They had almost put her in one of my rooms, but my room wasn't clean yet. I honestly don't know if I could have handled that, especially on that particular day.do people ask you for medical advice all the time? do you think its annoying? Yes, people do, but usually I don't think it's annoying. I like educating people, and my job gives me a good opportunity to do that.why are you avoiding your laundry? how many loads is it? I hate laundry with a passion. It's only two loads, but I will be impressed with myself if I get it all out of the dryer and put away. I am okay with washing/drying, but folding clothes and putting them away is my least favorite household chore.how often do you cook an actual dinner with your and Ty's opposite schedules? We grocery shop weekly, so at the beginning of the week we look at the calendar and figure out how many days we're both home at dinner time (usually between 2 and 4, unless someone has an extra day off). Then we split that number in half (and do rock, paper, scissors if it's an odd number) and each pick the appropriate number of meals. If one of us works, we call it "Bachelor/ette Night" and we fend for ourselves. Tonight is the first time we've had a home cooked meal together since Monday. Before that, the last time one of us cooked was June 9th, thanks to all the overtime Ty worked.where is your favorite place to go for vacation? Chicago, hands down. I loved it and I want to go back.least favorite? My worst vacation was Daytona Beach. I went with some friends in February and it was a cold snap and the high was 35 degrees the whole time we were there. It sucked.what wine did you end up buying your friend (that was you, right?)? I bought the vino verde from Trader Joe's. Then I ended up having to work the day of her shower, so I put the wine in my fridge so I could drink it and try it out. Then I forgot it was there. So it still sits, unopened, in my fridge.

do you like day shift? I do. I work 9-9 or 11-11, which for me is the best of both worlds because I don't have to get up at 5:30am, and I get to go to bed at a normal time. Plus there tends to be more genuinely sick people and less BS.do you think there are more people in the ER at night or is that just a myth? I would say we consistently have the highest census between 3pm-3am or so. After 3am it peters out until around 11am.do you normally wear your hair up or down? Currently it's too short to put up. Sometimes I'll pull it half-up to get it out of my face.what is your favorite thing to do in Chicago? Eat. We tend to plan most of our vacations around food, lol. Our favorite thing we did last time was probably spend the evening at the Signature Lounge (95th/96th floor of the John Hancock building). The piano bars are fun too.favorite place to eat in Chicago? We ate breakfast at this place called Eggsperience. It was so phenomenal we went back every single day.what are your three best qualities and your three worst? Best: I'm empathetic (most of the time), I'm a good listener, and I always try to do my best at everything I do. Worst: I'm a perfectionist (and get upset if I mess up), I like to be in control of things happening to me, which is downright impossible, and I tend to avoid confrontation even when it's necessary.do you iron? No, Downy wrinkle release is my friend. DH irons better than I do. I got "fired" from a home health client once because I didn't iron her clothes well enough. That was fine with me.if laundry is your least favorite chore, what is your favorite? Polishing silver/copper. I used to borrow my dad's copper cleaner as a kid and polish entire jars full of pennies. My dad's side of the family all love to polish metal.

really polishing? ive never polished anything in my life haha. Really. It's therapeutic for me or something. I absolutely love it.how do you feel about the gloves you have to wear at work? They're a pain. A few years ago they did some budget cuts and changed the brand of gloves we wear. They really suck and they rip more easily. Our department is the only one that still has the "good gloves" in our trauma and resuscitation rooms where the risk of exposure is higher.do they dry out your hand? No, they're unpowdered. The hand sanitizer foam does, though.what size glove do you wear? Smalldoes your wedding ring rip them? Never had that problem. When we got engaged DH picked the lowest prong setting he could so it wouldn't be an issue with my gloves. I've stopped wearing my engagement ring at work though because I'm paranoid I'll take a glove off and pull the ring off with it.i also plan my vacations around food. whats the best food driven vacation you've had (besides Chicago)? San Diego. Since I grew up there, it's all comfort food to me. I always plan my trip home around where I want to eat.do you watch food network? if so, whats your favorite show? I love The Best Thing I Ever Ate when it comes on. We've discovered two or three new places through that show, including Jeni's ice cream which is only an hour from us. DH's favorite is anything with Giada. I'm pretty sure he'd leave me for her if she weren't married.
