4th of July plans?

What are you doing?

I think I accidentally volunteered us to host a family BBQ.  My neighbors are getting a big bouncy house that all the adults are invited to use Smile  They got one a few weekends ago for one of the kid's birthday party, but I think the parents enjoyed it just as much so they decided to rent it again, haha!

Also, I get the Friday before the holiday as a bonus day off--what do you think I should do?  DH has to work and I want to plan ahead so I don't just sleep the day away :)

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: 4th of July plans?

  • I don't know what we're up to.

Your BBQ sounds awesome! I'm jealous!

If I had a day "off" (as in, no baby for the day) I think I would sleep, take a loooong shower, and shop all by myself.

  • A BBQ will be fun! I wish we had a bigger house so we could do something. And a less woodsy backyard (it's full of spider webs, which I kill 2x a day) and a less hot climate LOL

My parents will be here. Dh wants us all to go to Patriot's Point and watch the fireworks (kind of like the Charles) but I'm worried about having DS out that late, the skeeters, and the noise level of fireworks. So I think we'll stay home.

I have July 5th off and I'm super excited to spend the day with DS doing our own thing!

  • I was just thinking about the 4th this morning.  I had mentioned to DH about going down to PA to see his family for the weekend, but he hasn't given me a straight answer.  Since I'm not working (yet), this would be a good time for us to go.

No matter what I have to see fireworks!  I would love to go into Boston and see them there, haven't done that yet, but we always decide not to because of crowds and such.  Now that we live in Grafton, I'll have to see what is around here.

When we lived in FL we would go see them every year with my sister & family on the lakefront in St.Cloud.  They where always good fireworks, and you could see around the lake the fireworks from Kissimmee, all the Disney parks, Sea World, etc....it was cool!  I miss it Sad

  • We're in town that Sunday and Monday. If anyone has some good ideas to share for a newbie with a toddler, I'm all ears!

  • bounce houses are so much fun!

We won't be doing much. Family is going camping a few hours away, but we need to stick close incase LO decides to make his debut soon Smile *which is fine by me!*

Yep! We're making a few speed runs to pick up some things or attend family events, but we're here esp during the week. In Norwood for now, but house hunting (still)

  • Check out the local papers for the parades and fireworks schedules.  The small town parades are great for the little kids because they are long enough for them to be excited but not too long for them to be bored.   Fireworks are great is she is not scared of the big noise from the salutes.   Capron Park Zoo (Exit 3 off 95 in Attleboro) is a nice size for a toddler.

If you want a lengthy adventure, check out the oldest fourth of July parade in Bristol RI.  You will need to get ther early to get good seats.  It is a long parade.

  • I have a four day weekend for the 4th!  So exciting.

I know we are going to a barbecue on the Sunday, but other than that no firm plans.  My best friend from college will be in town from NYC so we will meet up at some point.

Me too!!  I'm so excited, I need some time off!

We go to my IL's small town in the Hudson Valley (NY) every 4th.  They have a big blowout ever year and the town has a parade and fireworks.  It's always a good time Smile

  • I'm going to the beach, rain or shine.

Rock, I'd use that Friday to get your grocery shopping done if you're having people over for the 4th.  I hate shopping on the weekend and especially a holiday weekend.

Yeah, I was thinking that too but I hate wasting a perfectly good day off just doing practical things :)

  • I waste perfectly good days off doing practical things all the time.  I like to think of it as investing in my weekend so I won't be so busy then.  If I were to do something impractical, I would go to the beach and read a book.  Or at least sit outside and read a book.
  • Not sure yet. We were invited to DH's cousin's grad party. We usually get together with my friends but those plans are usually last minute.
