Sectional or Sofa?

Which do you have? Why do you prefer one over the other?

Re: Sectional or Sofa?

  • We have a sofa and a loveseat. I have been thinking lately about a sectional. Our living room isn't the biggest and it feels like a sofa and a loveseat takes up most of the room. But I can't seem to find a sectional yet that doesn't scream 1990s to me.

  • We also have a couch and loveseat. Next we will be getting a sectional. Like Ami, I think a sectional would flow better with the size of our space.

  • I love the comfort of a sectional but the look of a traditional couch/loveseat. We have had both in the past. We now have a sofa. We plan to get a sectional for our upstairs bonus room, though.
  • We have a sectional, and I love it. Our living room is pretty small, and there really wasn't a good way to fit in a couch and loveseat.
  • We have a sofa, once we get our kitchen redone (which involves removing a wall), we will be getting a sectional.
  • I'm in the same predicament.  I don't know what I like at all.

  • We have a couch, loveseat, and recliner in our living room.  I've never had a sectional, so I don't really know which I prefer.  I guess it probably depends on the space you have?
  • I vote for sofa just because I think it is fun to accent with fun chairs.  I am not in love with sectionals just because they are so dang big and typically can only go one direction in most living areas.

  • Sectional.

  • Sectional. It provides us with more seating.

I agree with Bri. C like sectionals and I don't so we will not have one unless we build and out living room is big enough for a sectional and couch both that way we both win.

  • Before I moved to OK, we had an awesome 3 piece sectional with a chaise lounge on one end. Best couch I have ever been on. Then we had to sell it because of the move. So now we have a love seat, recliner, and some bar stools. In the end, as much as I loved our couch, it ended up being a good thing that we sold it because it would not have fit in our apartment with the way the living room is set up. When we buy a house, I'm planning on getting another sectional though.

  • I've had both and I liked the sectional for hanging out on the couch watching tv and such, but I hated how limiting it is to furniture arrangements.
