Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

winddeal???

I just clicked one of the board links in the blue bar on the left side of my screen and a new window opened up. It was winddeal.com or something like that, I closed it really quick before the page loaded.

Anyone else get that? WTF nest?

Re: winddeal???

  • I just tried now and it didn't do it to me, but something like that happened to me before for another site.  The nest must be trying to do more advertisements.

    Hopping in...

I moderate another board, but have been dealing with this issue all day. This is not a Nest advertisement.

There have been several spammers that have been able to successfully mask all the true links on the pages. You'll typically see that these winddeal redirects are happening on a page where a reply is apparently left blank by the poster. They're managing to put a transparent "image" over the page that links to their website. Anywhere you click within the limits of their "image" will open a new window taking you to their site.

Please glance at the bottom left hand corner of your screen when you hover over a link that has been posted, or especially if you're reading a thread that has a blank reply. If the link shows that it will be redirecting you to another site, like winddeal, don't click it.

You can block the spamming poster (again, lately it's been the one who replies with a blank response), as one of the Nesties on the Craft board suggested -- http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/54943932.aspx
