Restless

I am so restless today. I cannot focus on ANYTHING. I have a history paper to write OR I could work on my journalism stuff...but I can't focus on it. I tried reading a book for pleasure...got all antsy on the couch. I can't even sit and watch tv. It's driving me batty. I would go for a walk but I can't stand the heat. The last time I remember feeling this restless was when I went off a medication and restlessness was a discontinuation symptom. I went for a two-hour walk that evening. I was so upset but I couldn't even really cry, so I just walked...and walked. I think part of it is just PMS. I also should have had that bcp this morning but I'm a day ahead. I'm pretty sensitive to hormones and medications, so maybe that's it?

Do you ever get hardcore restless? What do you do to combat it?

Re: Restless

  • I usually pray my neighbor will invite me to come swimming and drink a few beers.

Or I have a couple of beers, take a few deep breaths and call someone I can talk crazy to for an hour or so.

    :)

  • I agree... booze is usually a good solution. Or I make endless posts here, on FB, and Twitter. Booze is probably the better option. :)

I have some cosmos in the fridge...ha. I sat here, legs bouncing away, and typed up a blog post just to keep my limbs busy, and that helped immensely. I think part of it is just nerves about classes next month and this paper that I can't seem to get a grasp on.

Yeah... I'm naturally a pretty stressed/nervous/anxious person, so I get this feeling fairly often. Whatever you do, don't drink coffee. O_O

No worries there. I can't stand coffee :P I try to keep the stress under wraps, and am a lot better than I used to be, but I still have my days.

At least I haven't broken out in a stress rash in a long time.

  • I have to get up and move around when I get restless...go for a walk, dance around the livingroom, do jumping jacks, climb the stairs (at work).

    Booze

  • I feel this way if I haven't left the house/neighborhood in a couple of days. I think it's a mild form of stir-crazy depression. I've discovered that, especially in the summer when I'm not teaching and DH is on a crazy work/sleep week, I do much better if I run at least one errand a day. I think I just need to interact with other people. So, I spread out errands, even if it means more driving. It keeps the restlessness from creeping in.

I did! I went to lunch with a friend yesterday. I really think it's just nerves. I feel better today. I couldn't even fall asleep last night because I was still a little wired.

Stripes--trying to avoid the shopping--want to go on vacation later this summer :P Must....save....money........
