You can answer for whatever version of Office you happen to be using. I'm just curious what the general level Office savvy our generation has.

Do you know how to:

Word

- Make a table of contents?
- Mail merge?

Excel

- Freeze a row so that you can scroll through lots of rows but continue to see the title row?
- Construct and use a pivot table?
- VLOOKUP?

Powerpoint

- Create or modify a custom presentation template?
- Create animations?

I hate excel with every fiber of my being. I can never get it to do what I want. Then when I do something happens, it crashes, my power goes out here. I think it hates me just as much as I hate it.

I can do everything listed above. I can thank grad school for all of the Excel knowledge. I've worked in various office settings for over 12 years and I rarely open Excel. I'm proficient in Access too, seems all the engineering firms love it.

Yes to all of the above. Although we just switched over to Office 2007 and I haven't done much in word yet - it's a pain getting used to the totally different layout.

Yes to everything except the pivot table and VLOOKUP. I'm using 2007 at work, 2010 at home. Excel and I are not friends (though it's on great terms with my numbers-loving husband).

Yes to all of the above. I use office a lot for work. I'm pretty sure my siblings think I'm crazy because whenever they ask my to send them anything, it is almost always in a spreadsheet.

I am obviously not very smart. I can make a table of contents.

I am sure I could figure out some of the rest if I needed to.

Wow, I hate to admit this, but I can't do any of the above. I'm so thankful I have an assistant who can do all of these things for me. She seriously saves my butt on an almost daily basis.

You know all that stuff sounds more than vaguely familiar, and at one point I'm positive I knew how to do all of that. But honestly I've not had to use it since I was taught MS basics in college and I guess if ya don't use it, you lose it.

Ha, I'm the go-to Excel person in my office, but I'd not heard of VLOOKUP, and while I've heard of a Pivot Table, I've not used one before. Other than that, yes to all.
