Resume Question

Hi, I know some of the ladies on here have some HR experience ... I'm going to a career fair next week, and I just want to know if it's appropriate to include references along with my resume? I've always just included references in the application process, but I have some really strong references, and I know 'who you know' always helps, so I thought maybe it would be a good idea to include them. Thoughts? Thanks :)

Re: Resume Question

  • I'm a recent grad (2009 from AIB) and we were told not to include references until asked. Maybe have a 2nd page (formatted like your resume) with references on it available should anyone at the fair want them at that time. Good luck!
  • Usually references are not listed on a resume, but I don't know how strict companies are about this.  Sometimes it seems like a matter of preference, as I was once asked where mine were on my resume in an interview.  To play it safe, I would list references on a seperate page and then offer it along with your resume (perhaps paper cliped) upon talking with the reps at each booth.  I don't work in HR, so I could be off.  However, in this economy especially it seems name dropping and connections can provide a great foundation or "in."  I agree it can help make you stand out.
