My MM gardening score

So I was at Lowes yesteday looking at pepper plants to buy and was debating between red and green peppers. My dad called and I told him what I was doing and he's like "look in there and you'll find one pot that has two plants close together." Sure enough I found two and so I bought 4 plants for the price of 2. I had never heard or even notice such a thing so I just wanted to share the news. I just took a butter knife and separated the two plants.

Bigger pots frequently have 3 or 4. Flowers are marketed this way too.

  • Good to know, I always just grabbed the best looking and closest pot.
  • I always look.  I got 4 cukes for a $1 and it was the only pot that had 4 plants.

  • Yes it always pays to look around!  I was at HD the other day and saw some nice Astilbie 'Delft Lace' but they were $16 for a large pot.  I really liked it but didn't want to pay that much for an astilbie so I dug around in the shade garden section and sure enough I found a 'Delft Lace' behind a bunch of hostas in a small 6" pot.  It must have just recently been re-potted because it wasn't root bound yet.  The same size plant just crammed in a small pot.  I took it up to the register to ask what the price was and it was $6.  Score!
