Apartments in Columbia/Ellicott City
Hello!
Does any one have any recommendations for apartments in Columbia or Ellicott City? We are looking for a 1 bedroom that allows dogs to live in for a year as we prepare to buy a home.
Thanks!
Re: Apartments in Columbia/Ellicott City
We lived at Howard Crossing from July 2006 - March 2010 and they allow large dogs. (We moved when we bought a house). I had no problems there, but I lived on the side with the rental office. I know other people on this list would not recommend them, but it was fine for us and we had no problems with management or the neighbors when we lived there. They are also fairly inexpensive.
Windsor at Pine Ridge in Elkridge also allows dogs.

DH and I just moved out of our 1 bedroom in Sherwood Crossing this past weekend. Based on the ratings I found online, I probably wouldn't have chosen to live there. I called the HoCo PD to ask about another complex and the officer I talked to actually recommended Sherwood. Coming from NC, I wasn't familiar at all with the area. I think there's a 40 pound limit on pets, but I saw a Newfie and several other dogs that were definitely larger than 40 pounds during my stay. We had no problems with neighbors or management. We did have to put in a few maintenance request to get a leak repaird, but that was the only real problem we had. It can be tough to find parking close to your apartment if you come home after 9:30 or so. They just updated the pool house and are currently renovating the club house, so they are operating out of a trailer right now. I think the new club house is supposed to be finished in the next month or so. It is right off 175 and 108 behind a nice shopping center. There's a great produce stand we used to go to all the time. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. kmkinlaw at gmail dot com.
I do think I remember looking at Windsor at Pine Ridge (but it's been over a year ago). I think we ruled this one out because the surrounding area did not look nice at all.
Sorry for the rambly post, HTH!

We lived at Windsor at Pine Ridge for a year. Don't do it. We had 3 major leaks (one almost directly over our plasma tv) and the neighborhood wasn't great.
Good luck looking in Columbia...we had an awful time finding something livable and affordable. As it is we're paying as much as we did to live in the city. Dominion is ok; the management staff has been fantastic. Our major gripe is the apt itself. We cook a lot and we can't both be in the kitchen at the same time; you can't open the fridge and dishwasher at the same time. We didn't get to see an apt model before we moved in (long story) and had to sign the lease blind. But the neighborhood is very nice and it's a very quiet area. Overall we like Columbia so far.
Feel free to ask me any questions. I know we've looked at almost every single apt in the area and we just moved at the end of April.
we lived in sherwood crossing which is over near costco off MD 108. we also lived in ashton woods which is further up MD 108 near coalfire pizza and coldstone.
both places allowed dogs.
when did you live there? we did too.
we looked there but the apartments were smaller than the other two complexes so we did not use them
