Ettiquette question

My SIL is working on her programs for her wedding next month and is not sure how to list her FG.  Lex (the FG) is the bride's future step-niece.  We all basically consider her our niece already, but it's not official yet.

She wasn't sure if she should say 'friend', 'niece', etc.  I told her to just say niece, but what would be the right thing to say?

Re: Ettiquette question

  • Well for me, I'm a big fan out cutting out those "qualifiers" when it comes to family. The only exception being for example, if a Step-Dad and Bio Dad are both actively in the picture - then some may want to have an identifier...In this case, I'd just put "niece". No need to emphasize the fact that it's a niece through marriage. She's still family :-))

  • I'd just say niece - it's short and simple.
