Baez already pissed the judge off.
He asked for a few more minutes to mark exhibits & the judge said, "Thats why Itell y'all to get here @ 8:30"

I heard on HLN earlier this week that this is his first capital murder case. I don't know whose a bigger idiot. Baez, or Casey Anthony for choosing this clown. Really? Someone in jail couldn't recommend someone who has tried a murder case. geesh.
I feel a break down coming since they are about to play this video.. I hope she took some good drugs this morning.
Seriously - WHERE did she get him from? And the other bozos they brought on aren't any better.
Some other inmate recommended him to her.. She told Lee that in one of the jailhouse videos.. for real.
Well, she is certainly setting herself up for a nice appeal if that's what she's after.
Also, finances play a HUGE part of selecting an attorney. We have a client who has been in jail since 2009 and has his trial for murder later this year. We required a large retainer... like an unprecedented amount for our firm. And we are only co-counsel on this case.
Cheney Mason has capital trial experience, so it's not a full defense team of first-timers at least.

True. How does anyone afford an Attorney?
He's an idiot- the only way he'll get more clients after this is if he someone how gets her off..

I was thinking just that....
I wonder the same thing some days. Since I work in the field there are various ways people pay without paying directly out of pocket - I get that. And we have a very professional clientele, so I know where that money comes from. But regular, hard-working people who cough up thousands on a whim to have legal work done really amaze me. Especially when I make the deposit every week and I know what some of our other clients do for a living. If I did not work for a firm, I would have filed my divorce paperwork on my own - I couldn't afford an attorney for such a basic proceeding.
Naw - I forsee Baez having a very good career after this even if it doesn't go the his way. People convicted of crimes aren't always the brightest. They pick attorneys because their baby's mother's brother's sister's best friend's grandma hired some smuck when she was in trouble. They often do little research, and ironically many, if not most, attorneys have never had trial experience, despite calling themselves 'criminal trial attorneys"
For a defense attorney, it isn't necessarily 'winning' they are after, but the lesser of the evil sentences So if he can avoid the DP, that would be a win. Obviously if he can pull off a not guilty, well, that would really be winning, but who knows.

I have also heard various shows on HLN saying that the FL Bar will be brought in to investigate(?) after this case is over..
My husband primarily represents Latinos - some are business owners who don't blink an eye at the cost, but most hard working individuals with jobs like player in a mariachi, lawn care worker, etc. The funny thing is, when they come up with the money, it is hard earned cash, and I'm pretty sure it isn't just coming from their jobs, but from an extended family who wants to keep them out of jail and in America.

Potentially, Stingshark. I haven't watched enough to give my educated legal asst. opinion on that, but there is a high probability of it happening since it is such a high profile case.
ETA: If the Bar DOES investigate, I hope we are hired.
I would definietly be asking for a raise if that happens.

This is true. Even as jury consultants, when working on a capital case if we can get the defendant life in prison instead of the DP, it's often considered a victory. I don't think anybody really goes into these things with high hopes.
