3) What are you listening to these days?

4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other?

5) Best concert you've attended?

    1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why? I'd go with The Decemberists. It is tough to choose one, but I love the feel of their music, and I appreciate that it's unlike anything else I've ever heard. Colin Meloy writes amazing lyrics, which I always appreciate.

    2) Name your top three albums. August and Everything After - The Counting Crows; Give Up - The Postal Service; Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco

    3) What are you listening to these days? I've been listening to a lot of "genius" mixes on my iTunes, but I've been a big fan of Florence + the Machine lately. If you haven't heard of her, you should YouTube 'Rabbit Heart' or 'Dog Days Are Over.' Also loving Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep,' though I'm already getting burnt out on it.

    4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other? Lately, I've been listening to NPR almost exclusively. I was SO happy when The Spy (105.3) came back last year, and so annoyed when it disappeared again. :( If it's not NPR, I've usually got a Pandora station playing through my iPhone.

    5) Best concert you've attended? I saw The Decemberists at Cain's in October 2009, and it was life-changing. Close second is the Avett Brothers at Rose State. Hated the venue, but the show was so fantastic, and I actually won us third row center stage seats via Twitter. w00t!

  • 1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why? Celine Dion (I'm a sap) and you were holding a rubber band, lol!
    2) Name your top three albums. Adele (21), Jill Scott (The Light of the Sun), and Whitney Houston (#1s)3) What are you listening to these days? Adele (21)4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other?  Pandora5) Best concert you've attended?  Celine Dion in Germany, I still get chills!

  • We don't talk about music nearly enough for my taste, so let's!

    1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why?  Tough one! I have to go with a classic, Reba.

    2) Name your top three albums. Reba- Greatest Hits, Miranda Lambert- Revolution, Paramore- Riot!

    3) What are you listening to these days? Alittle bit of everything. I usually stick with my favorites (Reba, Miranda Lambert), but I do like Adele's "Rolling in the deep" and The Band Perry "You Lie".

    4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other? we listen to the radio mostly, but if there is absolutely nothing on I'll put on Pandora

    5) Best concert you've attended? I haven't really attended a lot of concerts. My most memorable one was Blue Oyster Cult. I saw them in a small venue and I was fairly young (around the 7th grade), but knew of them because of my parents. The venue that they were playing was the water garden in Corpus Christi and it was really cool how they had their stage set up.

  • 1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why? I get tired of everything eventually. Snap away.
    2) Name your top three albums. Pearl Jam's Vitalogy, 'N Sync's first album (can't remember the name), and...uh...I never know albums.3) What are you listening to these days? Everything. I just have my iPod (on my phone) on shuffle in the car. I have anything from Adele to Ying Yang Twins on there. Last night I downloaded Butthole Surfers, STP, some Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters and was reliving my teenage years.4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other? iPod or Pandora. iPod for shorter trips, Pandora for longer ones, iPod if I'm going into a rural area because I always lose the connection.5) Best concert you've attended?  I honestly don't go to concerts. I do, however, enjoy going to the jazz lab in Edmond or smaller music venues around the city. I can tell you what my favorite concert performance of mine was, and that was UCO's performance of Carmina Burana, and I was the principle flutist. It was fabulous.

  • 1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why? Oh geeeez....ummmm....only one?....I guess I'd choose......Lifehouse. But I have about 4 bands/artists that are all pretty much tied for first.

    2) Name your top three albums. 1) Leeland - Sound of Melodies 2) Taylor Swift - Speak Now (don't make fun of me for that one!) 3) I can't think of a third one. I guess I don't really listen to "albums". I just find songs I like and buy them individually.

    3) What are you listening to these days? My most popular Pandora stations at the moment are The Band Perry and The David Crowder Band.

    4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other? Usually the radio. I'll scan through a couple country stations, a couple Christian stations, and NPR.

    5) Best concert you've attended? David Crowder Band. They are hilarious and seem very, very humble. I'm so sad they're breaking up Crying I'm trying to talk DH into going to Tulsa to see them for the last time in October.

  • 1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why?  So I didn't have to get snapped by the rubber band, I would say, Brad Paisly off the top of my head, but I honestly have many favorites and many different types of music.

    2) Name your top three albums.  Can't answer this because I don't buy CD's and I don't have an Ipod or an MP3 player at the time being.

    3) What are you listening to these days?  I have been listening to A LOT of Christian music (more rock alternaticve types) recently.  I also love country and classic rock (that was all I used to listen to in high school).

    4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other?  Radio

    5) Best concert you've attended?  Hmm.. I don't know.  Pretty much all the concerts I have been to, I loved.  I do not go to concerts nearly enough anymore.  To name a few concerts I am recently wanting to see or have been wanting to see and haven't:  Cold Play and Brad Paisly.

We don't talk about music nearly enough for my taste, so let's!

    1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why? Uh...hmm. Tom Petty.

    2) Name your top three albums. Fiona Apple--Tidal, Tom petty & the Heartbreakers Greatest Hits, and Incubus--Light Grenades

    3) What are you listening to these days?Sirius Radio. Loving Drake, Li'l Wayne, Chris Brown and Kelly Rowland.

    4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other? Sirius radio

    5) Best concert you've attended? Lady Gaga, ZZ Top (most fun had)

  • 1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why? I'm not gonna lie - *N Sync. I don't care how old I get, I'm still gonna love their songs. I have a couple of favorite solo artists, but I was told to only pick one...so...yeah. :)

    2) Name your top three albums. Prince - Purple Rain; *N Sync - Celebrity; Lady Gaga - Fame Monster.

    3) What are you listening to these days? A whole lot of Pandora. I've been kicking it old school lately...listening to a lot of old school R&B.

    4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other? CD or Pandora. I rarely listen to the radio anymore [the music they play sucks nowadays], unless it's sports radio.

    5) Best concert you've attended? The Justified/Stripped tour, when Justin and Christina Aguilera went on tour together. My parents got me and my sister tickets as a surprise, and we had an absolute BLAST.

  • So, it seems like we've got several country/Christian music fans.

I don't want to sound like a pretentious music snob, but if you like country at all, you should check out the Avett Brothers. I think their appeal is almost universal, but if you like that type of music, it's almost a sure thing that you'll dig 'em. They are seriously phenomenal. Thank me later. ;)

Another band I discovered in the past year or so is Frightened Rabbit. Their 'Midnight Organ Fight' album is pretty great, if you like the link here.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one with terrible taste in music :)

    1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why? It changes a lot, but right now it's John Mellencamp. I'm feeling nostalgic and it reminds me of my time at Indiana University. He lived right outside of the town, so his music was everywhere.

    2) Name your top three albums. I'm not really a "listen to a whole album" person, but again, forced to pick, I'd say the soundtrack to Hair, Gary Allan's Greatest Hits, and America's Greatest Hits

    3) What are you listening to these days? Mellencamp, Adelle, Jimmy Buffett, Johnny Cash....

    4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other? Pandora (I like the element of surprise) or iPod

    5) Best concert you've attended?  Probably NKOTB when I was a kid. It was terrible, I'm sure, but I was in 6th grade, and my favorite aunt bought me an awesome new outfit from Limited Too and crimped my hair. I felt like such a bad-ass. I was just sure Donnie was going to pull me out of the audience and propose on the spot :)

I'd be willing to bet that you and I like a lot of the same music!

  • 1) If I held a stretched rubberband to your forehead and made you choose ONE favorite artist or band, who would it be? Why?  This is a tough question! (I think my H would have to take the rubber band.)  I haven't heard a lot of his earlier stuff, but I really love Conor Oberst/Bright Eyes.  It took a while for his voice to grow on me, but he is the most amazing lyricist.
    2) Name your top three albums. Fleetwood Mac, Rumours; Brandi Carlile's self-titled album, Bright Eyes, Motion Sickness.3) What are you listening to these days? Cold War Kids, Brandi Carlile's new live album, Adele's new album (my kids, interestingly, LOVE this album), Broken Bells, 4) What do you prefer in the car: radio, CD, iPod, other?  I'd prefer an iPod, but I don't have one.  The MP3 player I do have isn't as easy to use as I would like, so it's hard to change music in the car.  If I play CDs, I usually listen to the same one for 2 weeks. Lol.5) Best concert you've attended?  Monsters of Folk last year in Austin.  The energy, both of the crowd and from the band, was amazing!

Lately, it's been radio, but normally it's iTunes5) Best concert you've attended?  Relient K at City church a long time ago.  So fun, they are a great live show!

I LOVE Mumford and Sons!  We were supposed to go see them at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in April, and I was so disappointed when we had to cancel our trip.  I'm really hoping they will tour again next summer!
