Block Island for the day- any tips/recs?
Hey Girls! Hubby and I are going to zip out to Block Island for the day next week, and neither of us has ever been. We're doing the high speed ferry from Pt. Judith. Any recommendations? Is there decent bus service? A particular beach to go to? Good place for lunch?
Any info is appreciated! Thanks!

I did a search on Google and found lots of old posts about Block Island -- http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=site%3Acommunity.thenest.com+block+island
Unfortunately, aside from allegedly being conceived there, I've never been. I still get called "Block Island Baby" in certain circles more than 30 years later.

if you aren't in shape, take the moped! dh and i took bikes once and omg the hills! i was sweating the entire day. i love ballards beach, its over where the low speed ferry brings you in.
have fun BI is great!
I'll definitely give a full report :-) And I'll be 36 weeks preggo next week when we go, so I think we're skipping both bikes and mopeds. (I wish they had an island bus service, but I'll be content just to take a cab here and there).
I'm hoping next year to get back in shape and see the island on bikes. Good warning about the hills!! Nothing like exhausting yourself in the first 30 minutes of your getaway, haha!
Oh, yes, I would say that maybe you should skip the two-wheeled transportation! I know there are quite a few cabs. I can remember going when I was younger and doing a tour of the island in a station wagon "cab." It was a local woman so she knew her stuff.
Last time I went I had just found out I was pregnant. I remember thinking I probably shouldn't be on a moped.
