Re: jewels2730

  • YES!  Omg. Was that you?  We were talking about the tator tots?

  • yep!

    nice to meet you.

did you get the tots? they were really good.

  • Haha!  So nice to meet you too! Tots were really good.  We each got a panini too and shared - they were just eh, but I am just tickled that I now have a good beer bar 3 blocks from my house!

You know, when I first walked in, I thought to myself "Is that stilldreaming?"  And I knew it was quite possible since we live in the same 'hood, but I don't think I really ever saw a pic before so I wasn't sure!

    Had you been there before?

  • ladies tell me more about this place we just drove by last week and i was likejkhfutdyt ooooo
  • we were there a million years ago when it was a crumb bumby hole in the wall. Avoided going back, even when it was raw dogs, b/c that name skeeved us out.

but with a name change, and with them doing a lot of beerweek stuff, we thought we'd give it a try.

I thought the menu was a little panini intensive. they need to improve the menu to compete to make it a destination for northerners, but the beer menu was super impressive.

and the bartender certainly was knowledgeable!

  • Well, it used to be Rawdawgs.  Very typical 2 street bar. We went in one night because we had heard they had better beer, so find out they had no taps. They had decent bottles, but we were like eh this place is crappy and left. Then one fine day DH was walking the dog and ran into the new owner since he had seen it had just changed over to the 2nd St Brew House.  12 taps and 80 some bottles!  They have a teeny tiny kitchen (DH got the tour) so they can't do a whole lot with food, but they are serving a few things like nachos, tator tots, pizza, and panini's. Oh and they have a chili cheese dog which I will get next time :D

The bartender last night used to work at Resurrection, so he was very knowledgeable.

I was dyyyyying for a 'hood bar since there is just nothing our way and Ugly is quite a hike, so yay for pennsport!

  • Yeah, I don't have much hope for the food unfortunately :/  If I'm feeling pub food, I'm gonna go to the pope or sptr which are our two go-to's.  But if I want to just grab something quick I'd eat there again.  It's just not gourmet by any means.
  • great to know, now we have to try it out. i would have never stepped foot in there prior to reading this, just thought it was another crumby old man bar
