So, who wants to hear something totally awkward?

We had our grade 9 graduation dinner and dance on Wednesday night. We're a 7-9 school, so it was really nice to see all our kids get dressed up and look so smart.

Anyway, although I didn't teach any grade 9 classes this year (save the drama one I tried to save), I know most of the kids from last year. And... it was really lovely to say good bye to the kids. Many of them told me that I was their best English teacher, which meant a lot, because I think their grade 9 teacher was far superior to me.

That was the nice part. Now to the awkward part.

One of the boys I taught in grade 8 was totally attempting to hit on me all night long.

He even started to attempt to get poetic talking about "your eyes are like two youthful orbs" (shudder). I mean, it's even BAD poetry.

And then he got mopey when I didn't want to dance with him... and I felt so badly! I totally loved this kid (you know, in a completely teacherly way). He was nice, funny, smart - you know the kind of person that you're excited for their future. To have him go out on a creepy note is kinda depressing.

Plus, I'm creeped out by the thought of being anyone's teacher based fantasy.

On the other hand if you'd told my fat, pimply 15 year old self that someday 15 year old boys would find her attractive, she probably would have laughed hysterically.

Please no Mrs. Robinson singing. I've had enough of that from the other teachers! LOL! Stick out tongue

  • Okay, two Simon & Garfunkel references on this board today. Awesome.

That is completely awkward--but I admit I'm kind of CQTM. Guess he figured it was now or never! ;)

It's also cool you got such great kudos from the kids. :)

I agree. You are an awsome teacher. You should move to Mississippi so you can teach my kids.
