Weekend Plans? And another bonus question...

My boss is really starting to annoy the crap out of me, but I found out he'll be away the week before i'm on vacation, which essentially means I have TWO WEEKS of vacation.  I cannot wait.

Anyways.  What are yous guys doing this weekend?

Today/tonight - grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, making a pasta salad for a friend's cookout tomorrow night and hopefully watching disc 3 of Mad Men season 1, although, DH worked until 6am this morning (his shift was supposed to end at 11pm), so he might not be willing to stay up late.

Tomorrow - sleeping in, yard work, going to friends cookout and seeing my bff and my stinkin' cute goddaughter.

Sunday - probably milking a hangover.

Question - DH and I are not getting the hype of Mad Men.  Like I said, we're on disc 3 of season 1, so we haven't watched much of it... but I feel like it should have roped us in by now... but both of us could take it or leave.  Does it get better?  What is it that we're missing?

Re: Weekend Plans? And another bonus question...

  • Tonight- Dinner at home and cleaning up a bit. Wathcing a movie and filling out the remaining mortgage paperwork! Wohoo! We live on the wild side!

Tomorrow- Tubing from somewhere.  I don't know the details but it was a living social deal not too long ago.  I think we have a group of 10 or so going!

Sunday- Run (hopefully), relax, grocery shop, clean some more, get ready for the week.

I'm not a Mad Men person.  Haven't even watched a single episode so I'm no help!

  • tonight: heading out to vienna to meet my bff for dinner & to seebridesmaids. we've both loved it and decided we needed to see it together. i can't remember the last time we went to the movies together. it may have been like 10 years ago?!

saturday: sleeping in, grocery shopping, seeing green lantern with DH then dinner at brasserie beck. we haven't been yet so i am very excited for beer & frites.

sunday: maybe the gym, definitely laundry and tidying up, then collage assignments since i'm not caught up and the class ends next week. hoping one or two of these can serve the dual purpose of cards for july birthdays.

    happy friday!!

bonus question: i love, love, LOVE mad men but it did take us most of the first season to get into it. i also just enjoy the sets and fashion.

  • Today, tomorrow and Sunday will all be spent continuing to recover from whatever death level illness has been plaguing me all week.

I do have an answer for Mad Men though- I wasn't crazy about Season 1, it took me forever to get through it, then the finale was really good, so I watched Season 2 and it has significantly picked up.  We're waiting for last season to come out on DVD but are otherwise caught up.  I recommend sticking with it through the end of season 1 and the first disk of season 2.  If you're still not sold, ditch it.

  • Today - took a sick day for a doctor's appt later so just completed with a client and will be doing cardio and strength workouts next. After dr appt going to a birthday happy hour and then crashing at home while DH has a gig.

Saturday - hypothetically our ceiling guy who stood us up this morning is coming to FINISH what was supposed to be a 3-day job. (That was 2.5 weeks or a very intermittent 5 days of work ago) We're also going to a family birthday party for a few hours but the rest will be trying to clean up the layer of dried paint/drywall everywhere. So gross.

Sunday - doctor appt. then driving to Bel Air to see my BF's new baby again. Then coming home and cleaning more before we have family stay with us Tuesday night. Ugh.

  • Tonight- Easy dinner- chicken salad- then watching the 4th HP movie.

Tomorrow- Going to a friend's wedding in the morning/early afternoon, then maybe stopping by the Verizon store on the way home since we're still not sure how to work some of our new phone's features (we got blackberries... our first smart phones). Pizza and watching Burlesque in the evening with another friend.

Sunday- Church, grocery shopping, general house stuff.

  • Tonight - the usual; dinner with DH on his break, then vegging and trying to say up until he gets home, but this has been a crazy week of early mornings for me, so I might crash before he gets home. If I have the energy, I may try to do a little cleaning. The local BBQ festival is in the city park in our neighborhood this weekend, and a lot of people we know are going, so our  house might turn in to the after party locale and I at least want it to be picked up.

Tomorrow - staying in the house all day. Apparently, our neighborhood will be a zoo due to the festival. I will need to grocery shop at some point, so that may be an evening activity Saturday or Sunday, after the festival is over.

    Sunday - see Saturday.

Bonus: I can't remember at what point we decided we were addicted to Mad Men, but we love it. I started watching it for the sets and costumes, but eventually I got really in to the story. I think it is a very non-traditional show. So much time can go by from episode to episode that you really have to pay attention to all the details to pick up on what's happening. We're currently on Season 4, disc 4 (so, maryandkirk - it's out - go get it - it's awesome). We have two episodes to go and then the wait for Season 5 to air later this year - they are in contract negotiations and shooting has been delayed.

i hate to tell you that i'm pretty sure season 5 is delayed until early 2012 but i think they've confirmed through season 7!!

  • Tonight - going to see Bad Teacher with teacher friends, then dinner at my parents' house to see my brother off to USMC training!

    Tomorrow/Sunday - Richmond

Oh, no. I haven't read any updates on it lately, I just knew it was delayed past summer. At least they've confirmed additional seasons! I was afraid 5 was going to be the last one.

  • Dad and his wife are coming to town today for the weekend. Not exactly sure what the plan is but they want to spend time at the pool with DD, go out to eat and go to the farmer's market. They are not big on making suggestions and it annoys me to just sit around the house with them. Also, I am hosting a baby shower this weekend.

I watched the first two season of Mad Men but have not followed it any further.

  • Friday - Cake and Wine and chilling with DH after DS goes to bed

Saturday -Using a living social winery deal to celebrate my b-day today, stopping by Whole Foods on the way for some yummy picnic stuff

Sunday - Hmm....who knows, the usual, grocery shopping, maybe a trip to the pool

Edit: Oops I forgot your bonus question. DH and I both love Mad Men. It's not an explosively addicting show. But it can become incredibly addictive after repeated use. Kind of like cigarettes....except less cancerous. (I don't have any personal experience with cigarettes but this is what I've heard)

  • Our weekend is boring and we are really looking forward to it. Our weekends have been crazy lately, so the fact that this one only contains a wedding shower is awesome.

We love MM, but it definitely took us a few episodes, maybe the whole first season, to get in to it.

  • Tonight - Cleaning up and hanging with Lil C.  Maybe some sewing if I can stay awake after he goes to bed.

Tomorrow - It's my birthday!!  In the AM, I will be hanging with some fellow Nesties/Bumpies with their adorable bebes, and then tomorrow night, DH is taking me out to Fogo De Chao (mmmmmm...meat on a stick...).

Sunday - Grocery shopping and going to a friend's house to BBQ and watch the season premiere of True Blood

  • I should go to the grocery store today.  I also have thought about just having DH grill hot dogs.  lazy yes

Tomorrow we need to test drive some SUVs.  DHs car has trouble starting.  Sometimes it starts and sometimes it just doesnt want to.  I'm over that car!

I also want to take him to Homestead gardens. I just spent about $100 there on Tuesday but I want so much more!!

Sunday we are celebrating our anniversary by going to Bavarian Inn's Sunday brunch.  I have no idea if we'll like it, but it'll be an adventure.

I cant get into Mad Men but my parents and my DH watch it.  It runs too slow for me.

  • Tonight - gym, then dinner at home.

Tomorrow - birthday party in the morning (right during DS's nap time, which should suck), naps, then a housewarming party in the afternoon.

Sunday - DH is getting a haircut and I'm getting my eyebrows done. My friend and I might go get pedicures. But nothing big - should be a nice relaxing day.

Re: Mad Men, I really love it. DH and I would watch two or three episodes at a time when we first started getting into in on Netflix. But maybe it's just not your style? I don't know. I definitely don't like all the characters, but do love the story.

  • Today: Home with the LOs--playing, trip to Target, cleaning, etc.

Tomorrow: 10-miler and trip to BRU for babyproofing supplies

    Sunday: Relaxing, not really sure

As for Mad Men, we couldn't get into it either. I don't see the appeal.

  • TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Woo!!

DH said he would take me out for dinner and drinks tonight -- yay!  Definitely a stop at Vintage 50 is planned.  Yum, beer.

Tomorrow: sleeping in, cleaning, laundry, packing

Sunday: more of Saturday because Monday I leave for two weeks with my family in Upstate NY.  Finger Lakes here I come!

ETA: Forgot the bonus question.  But I don't have an answer anyway.  We own seasons 1-3 and haven't watched any of it yet.  I think we were waiting for the summer when we have no new shows to watch of our regulars.
