Re: maybe y'all can help me with positioning of the new fridge

  • Do you need the cabinets that are near the fridge now? Seems like you have plenty of cabinet space. How about omitting those cabinets and that way the doors can open fully? i am not sure you have many options unless you're going to totally redesign the space.

  • Does the new fridge not fit in your current space for a fridge or are you just concerned about the double doors?  Do you mind how you current fridge opens against a wall?  If you don't mind how your current fridge sits and the new fridge will fit then I would just leave it there.  I am pretty lazy about stuff like that though.  If it won't fit and/or you don't like the current one's location then I would maybe do what a poster on D&R said and flip flop the cabinets if you can.
  • Is the new fridge bigger than the old hole? If so you would probably want to remove the cabinets there so the door would open. I'm not sure what you could put next to the fridge though since a single cabinet would be a little odd. Maybe some sort of hutch or wine rack thing? Or hang something on the wall like a chalk board and put something small underneath it that's just decorative?

I'm having a hard time with this without seeing it IRL.

  • Ummmm I fvcking love that new fridge. :)

It is fridge perfection. French doors, water dispenser, bottom freezer plus bonus drawer.

Our fridge sits in a space by a wall like that. The door opens on that side but not able to swing like totally out. It really doesn't limit us in our space in the fridge. I would just put it there. If it drives you crazy, move the cabinets later.

  • so, either way we have to move the cabinets at least an inch...if it fits right now it would be a SUPER tight fit...so we need to schooch everything over. but...

we're thinking about totally changing that area...moving the fridge over to the side closer to the door opening (on the left) and then doing a cabinet surround around the fridge (so you don't see a bare side of the fridge on the left) and making the right side like floor to ceiling cabinets with drawers inside. i mean...that'd be awesome. not to see what that's gonna cost us...

    :)
