expiration date on lip gloss?

Anyone know if there is one...?  My lips are miserable and the only one I have right now has been sitting on my desk since I started.... in 2008.

Re: expiration date on lip gloss?

  • You're probably fine to use it, but you should toss every 6 months or so.

Depends on the brand/ type (ie: chapstick lasts longer than a gloss).

This reminds me that the top seam burst on my new fave glass and I need to return/ replace it.  Recommend:

Does Peppermint Oil count?  It's a CO Bigelow from Bath & Body Works...

Don't know.  LOL.  I figure when things have ingredients labeled Active and Inactive, there has to be some kind of expiration.

But then again, vaseline/petroleum jelly doesn't expire... so who knows.....

  • Well, I used it.  If my lips fall off over the weekend, I'll let you know Monday!

  • I figure as long as it still smells good and and isnt' gummy-nasty then do it. I've used Burt's Bees that I've melted in the car/dryer before...and my lips are still here.

  • It should say somewhere on the tube. Where depends on the brand.

I have a CG Bieglow one in my purse and it has a 12M (1 year) stamp on it. Soft Lips brand is good for 18 months.
