I've been trying to spend birthday money for OVER A WEEK now, which is just unheard of for me. I went to the mall after work (where I found some fab DKNY jeans, thx amanjay!) and tried on this dress.
I was thinking it looked kind of old fashioned and artsy. My style is pretty minimalist/classic, and I'm always trying to be a little more artsy, since I work with creatives. What do you think of this dress? Has anyone ever bought anything Rachel Roy?
This was my other option. I dislike the price, but it was pretty cute/comfy on. And more in my comfort zone. And you're supposed to buy things you wouldn't normally buy for your birthday, right?
Anyway, I couldn't decide, so I came home empty-handed.
Re: I need your dress opinions.
While the first one isn't my style, I much prefer it over the second one, which I consider to be far overpriced for the style.
Maybe shop a little more?
I prefer the second dress, but honestly, I'm not a big fan of either one. I think you could find something just as cute (or cuter!) for a lower price elsewhere.
I still think the first one is quirky enough to be cute, but H doesn't like it either (though he only saw a shady iPhone picture of me in it), so it might be out. I want to agree that the Lucky dress is just too pricey for what you get, but it fit really well, the fabric felt high-quality, and it was flattering. I'm still undecided overall. Might go back tomorrow. Boo, mall.
You are so freaking cute that you could make a paper bag look good! That said, I think you could do better than these dresses for the money.
I agree with Amanjay on all accounts.
Eh. Between those two, I'd pick the first, because the second looks like something you could get for $15 at Old Navy.
You should check out www.modcloth.com for artsy-type dresses in the same price range.
Thumbs-up for modcloth! I've never bought from there but it's certainly a nice way to pass the time.
I've looked at modcloth before, but it strikes me as the type of site that carries clothes that run like 10x too small. I always have issues with "trendy" stores. I normally wear a M, so I get pretty pissed when I have to order an XL.
That said, perhaps I shouldn't judge it before I've even tried it.
One caveat to the whole dress saga is that I'd ideally like to have whatever I buy in-hand for my vacation starting July 2. I don't think I'll have enough time to order online. I'm going to go check out Gap today, maybe some others.
I knew someone would like it!
I'm not crazy about the first one, but I think if you like it, then you should rock it!
I like the second one better, but I also agree that it looks like one you could get for cheap somewhere else.
For dresses, check out www.eshakti.com. I haven't ordered anything from there yet, but I am getting ready to order the dress I posted yesterday. There is also another dress on there that I'm ordering for another wedding I've got in August. It's fairly cheap and if you need it, you can do any sort of custom sizing you need to for $7.50 (even then, I think the first time you do it, it's free). According to the reviews that I've seen, the dresses are pretty good quality.

So, this dress is adorable! I'm in the market for something a little more casual, or I might order it. Thanks for the rec!
In case anyone cares... I went to Old Navy for the first time in like three years today. They actually had a ton of cute stuff! I ended up getting like six things for the price of that ONE dress.
Thanks for talking some sense into me.
