Problem with a washing machine, please help!

I have a front loading washing machine and love it except for one little problem.  I don't really know how to explain this but I am going to try... I cannot use regular bleach because it doesn't all empty from the dispenser on the load that I want it to. I do not overfill the bleach dispenser but for instance if I wash a load of whites and then wash colors there will be bleach spots on some of the colored clothes.  (I learned that the hard way with a couple of dh's favorite shirts!) I also notice when using color safe bleach (because it's blue vs. clear) that I can still see it in the bleach dispenser after a load of clothes have been washed.  I decided to just use the color safe bleach instead but my towels and washcloths are starting to look awful. I'm not really sure if there is a solution to this problem but I figured if anyone would know it would be you wonderful nesties! TIA

Re: Problem with a washing machine, please help!

  • While I haven't had this problem with my front loader, whenever I used bleach (which is rare) I always run a second rinse after I take everything out just to make sure it's all gone, or follow the bleach load with another load of whites (and no bleach). Maybe that'd help?
  • That might work, I'll give it a try... Can I ask how you keep your whites pretty if you don't use bleach? I don't really like it but my towles are looking rough without it!

  • Thanks for the rec! I just always knew my mom and mother in law to bleach their whites so I didn't really know what else to use.
