Hi ladies, I was wondering if any of you own a Steam Mop?? If so which one do you have and would you recommend it?? I am getting really tired of buying swiffer pads all the time. Thanks!
Re: Steam Mop
I work at a flooring store and actually, we don't recommend using them period on any surface except tile. Wood products shouldn't come in contact with wood or wood-based products, such as laminate. The commercials and the box information is misleading because it will show you that you can use it on wood and laminate, but every sales rep I've talked to has told us that if you use a steam mop, all warranties are totally void. That being said, there really isn't much warranties for wood or laminate to begin with.
The only issue I, myself, has seen was someone used hardwood in a hallway and they used a steam mop. I'm not sure how often they used the mop or anything, but their hardwood started splitting and bowing in the center of hallway. A moisture meter was put on that area of the hallway and the moisture was double the level it should be. But when they took the meter to another room in the house, the moisture level was where it should have been. The wood company says the use of the steam mop was the cause of the splitting and bowing. *shrug*
Just my two cents though!
