Yoga Chick's Shower

So I've determined that my friend's bridal party is just kind of lame.

This is the friend whose entire bach party seems to consist of a yoga class in the middle of a Sunday afternoon.  Today was her shower, and she told me that she knows when the bach party is so she doesn't make other plans, but not what's going on.  So it's not like it was her choice.  Meanwhile, she's got a side job as a yoga instructor... so like Eric says, why on earth would she want to take a yoga class for a bach party?

The shower was ok - the room they got was small but the food was good at the restaurant.  But her bridal party is really kind of lame.  No centerpieces, no decorations, no wishing well.  The favors were little jars of preserves which was cool, but they just printed up labels on a home printer on small address labels in Courier font, saying "Bridal shower for N*** R*** June 26, 2011."  No games, no prizes.  The ones helping with gift opening threw away all the bows & ribbons with the wrapping paper instead of making a hat, bouquet, or y'know... seeing if the bride wanted to keep 'em to reuse.  It was just lunch & presents.  Fine, but nothing special, y'know?  Like the bride wasn't honored or made the center of attention except for the fact that she opened gifts.  And even for that, they didn't get her a chair or set up a spot, they had her stand next to her chair and do it.

I dunno, maybe I'm weird.

Re: Yoga Chick's Shower

  • No. That's lame. It sounds like they put little effort into the shower, which totally isn't cool. I'd be just a tad bit upset if that was my shower, honestly.

  • I feel sad for this girl. I hope she is happy and not disappointed.

  • Whoever hosted this girls shower should not ever do one again.  It was so....thoughtless.  I know many of us had really wonderful showers and none of us really "expected" over the top stuff but really....she deserves to have felt like a QUEEN for that moment!

Maybe you could give her a special gift on her wedding day or something, I don't know....

  • OK, so it's not just me.  I was hoping it was, and maybe I just wasn't seeing how wonderful it was.  'Cause I'd prefer she have something wonderful and it's just me being weird, y'know?

I'm really close friends with the groom, not so much the bride, but I like her and I kinda wish I'd been the one to plan these things for her.

But yeah, we'll give her a good wedding gift - either something off the registry if there's still something substantial, with maybe a little extra for fun, or a decent amount of cash.  And I plan to appoint myself to make sure things go well & she's happy at the wedding.

  • How lame.  I feel sorry for the girl, that reallly sucks.

    My thoughts exactly. Poor thing.
