Quick question
Hi, Ladies! I normally post on GPM but some recent news brings me over here with a question. My younger sister just got engaged to a great guy who is finishing airborne school. They are going to have a wedding when he comes home for leave and then she will go to live with him where he is stationed. It is likely, according to her, that he will be deployed in the first 6 mo., leaving her on her own away from home. My question: are there any books about what to expect as a military spouse that you ladies would recommend? TIA! Also, thanks for the sacrifices you and your families make everyday.

The above book is great. Also, click on the button in my siggy. I believe there is a list of books on the FAQ page that she may find helpful.
I also have one that our Chaplian gave us called Love & War by John and Stasi Eldredge. I haven't read it yet, but it comes highly recomended by several people. It is next on my reading list.
She will also be able to go to Military One Source and order recomended books. They will give you, I believe, 10 free books a year. There are many about military relationships. There are some for kids and some that are fun books. There are a ton of resourses out there for her.
Also, the 6 month thing is something that instructors tell their people to prepare them. I know people who I was in training with that deployed 3 months after grad. I know others who were in for 4 or 5 years before they deployed. It all depends on the unit you end up in. Prepare for the worst and all that mess.
