I just got back from getting a massage that I bought a LivingSocial coupon for. It was a Thai massage which is nothing like anything I've ever experienced before. You wear loose clothes and lay on a big mat that is basically mattress sized. He moved all around me and stretched me out, rubbed certain muscles, and at one point my feet were on his chest and he was pulling my arms! It sounds weird but felt amazing. I guess outside of that situation it might be awkward but he was very professional. I would be open to doing it again.
Has anyone else ever done a Thai massage? What did you think?
Here is a demonstration video I found on youtube. It is almost exactly like what I experienced.

Re: Well that was weird.
I wasn't paying attention and accidentally bought a massage from a chiropractor/sports therapist place from one of the deal sites. I'm pretty sure I walked out more beat up than when I walked in - but I have never felt so relaxed and less tense. I think that's the only place where they've been able to get out the knots behind my shoulder blades and actually stay away... I'm glad it was relaxing for you! That's a nice surprise!
I normally like to "get my money worth" at a massage so I usually have them work pretty hard on me so I know what you mean about feeling beat up! The basis of Thai massage is to be more relaxing but still work out tension in muscle groups. There is lots of yoga stretching incorporated at well. It was very interactive versus just laying face down on a table (which I enjoy as well!) He also had me do some breathing exercises as he worked. I think I just wasn't quite prepared for what was going to happen! I know it's probably not for everyone but I did enjoy it. :-)
I had never heard of acro yoga so I Googled it. Wow! Some of the pictures on this website are a-ma-zing.
