Re: @ C&P from MM: nastiness of PG...

  • you know - I've come to terms with the idea that its best to not know about most things pg related like *that* until you actually have to deal with them and can't avoid them - otherwise no one would get KU.
  • This made me crack up, even though it is tmi.

Here's a TMI for you.  Pooping is not a regular event during pregnancy, especially toward the end.  I was at work once when I finally had to go (luckily the only female at that moment) and pooped so huge it hurt.  It was like passing a coke can and so big it took THREE flushes.  I felt awesome after that though.

  • OMG, I know Tef!  I liked the three flushes. Ick!

A few weeks before I found out I was KU, I was doing dishes and all of a sudden had a horrible vision of pushing a baby out my vag.  I swear I felt it as I was rinsing off the glasses.

I had a near panick attack.  Too late now. :)

    that's the thing...

you will know you're ready to deliver when the thought of what you have to do to evacuate the baby from your body is less horrific, less intimidating, less terrifying than the thought of keeping it in there ONE MORE DAY.

Seriously... you'll get to the point when you'll do anything to have it gone from you.

So very, very true. I firmly believe nature intended the end of pregnancy to be so uncomfortable for that very reason.

  • awww sbp, I'm sorry you're having a tough recovery! That completely sucks, and it's even harder when you're directing every ounce of energy toward caring for a new little being, with no time to really dedicate to feeling better yourself.
  • My desire to have a baby has gone way downhill after I started reading some of those BOTB posts.

  • OK honestly? Neither my pregnancy nor my recovery was half as bad as I expected it to be, nor as bad as one would expect from reading that thread. Obviously not everyone has that experience -- I was pretty lucky -- but it's not that bad for everyone.

I was um, regular throughout pregnancy. I never got hemorrhoids. I occasionally had mild nausea in the 1st tri but never actually threw up. I had occasional back pain, but nothing really awful. My skin was actually clearer than it has ever been. I have no idea if I pooped during delivery, most likely will never know, and I honestly don't care (and I REALLY didn't care at the time). The hardest part of pregnancy was the exhaustion and being tired all the time. And towards the end, I was pretty uncomfortable simply from being so huge and having pre-labor cramps for weeks.

ETA: I forgot about the heartburn. That sucked too. Also, having baby jam her foot into my lungs/ribcage for the last couple of weeks was also painful.

Recovery wasn't fun, but after the second week, I was basically back to normal. I was also lucky enough not to have any real tearing - just some minor lacerations and abrasions. The weeks of bleeding and uh, passing....stuff is nasty, but not really that big of a deal.

I won't lie - labor was really, really painful and not a pleasant experience. It was emotionally and physically draining. And the stretch marks suck, as does the extra 30 pounds (gulp) that I now have to lose. But it was all worth it - really. Maybe I had just prepared myself for the worst, but I'm not nearly as sad/upset/depressed about those things as I thought I would be. I guess having a baby has a way of instantly realigning your priorities, or at least it did for me.

  • I'm finding 3rd tri to be more uncomfortable than I expected. All the bones and stuff in my lower back, hips, pelvis, etc. have been achy this whole part of the pregnancy. Thank goodness my job is just sitting at a computer. When I try to do normal house chores like laundry and cooking I can't even move after a couple of hours. I become like the tin man. There were times when I had to crawl on the floor because it hurt to walk.?

  • Ugh, I'm sorry SBP :( I hope everything is OK?

How is the little one doing?? ?

She's a champ.  Looks like they're going to do her surgery in January some time.  I'm both dreading it and really looking forward to it.  The idea of them doing open-heart surgery on a 4 month old scares the shit out of me, but I'll be so glad to just have the whole ordeal behind us so we can be "normal".

How's your little one?  Are you sharing pictures or trying to keep her internet profile low?

I'm glad to hear she is doing well! I can only imagine how difficult it must be with her heart issues, but I'm glad you will be able to put it behind you soon. I have a special soft spot in my heart for her since I had my heart surgery at about the same age. I hope you'll keep us updated on how she's doing.

sst is doing well! She went through a no-sleeping phase for a while but she's finally started to start sleeping much to our relief. I haven't posted pictures partly out of laying low and partly out of um, not getting around to it. I am going to post some on here pretty soon though.
