Bugs EWWW! Please Help!

I have been noticing these tiny tiny black bugs that are smaller than a poppy seed on my baseboards around my home. They are not easily visible. they have little antennas and when you smush them they look like a spec of dust. They also seem to hop around a little

I have no clue what these are. I've used hot water and bleach to scrub my baseboards, bedbug and blea killer spray. They also seem to come out when it gets warmer or humid outside. Has anyone ever had these in their home before? I'm so discusted right now! I've just sprayed all my baseboards with the steam cleaner... it's after  midnight and I think my DH wants to kill me! haha

  • I'm pretty sure you have springtails.  We had to deal with them last summer after they came from a pile of topsoil we had delivered for our backyard.  They live in the soil and moist areas, like rotting bathroom walls.  For us, they came in through some window vents we left open while on vacation but we also had tons (and I mean tons) come in from our baseboards. We tried everything - spraying stuff inside and outside but nothing worked.  I must have killed hundreds and literally didn't sleep because I was afraid they would crawl on me.  Then my husband inspected outside and there was the tiniest of cracks between our foundation and the beginning of our siding.  He sealed that up and it took care of the problem.  I suggest checking your foundation outdoors where your baseboards would be and finding the source of the problem outside.  If you google them, there are lists of products you can apply to your soil to kill them.   Good luck!
  • I have no idea what kind of bug that is. But I can tell you that spraying random poisons in your home isn't doing you any good and it's a waste of time and money. You need to find out what the bug is and what the recommended pesticide for it is.

And there's always the pros - the first exterminator I called was $$$$, but the other exterminator was very cheap and very good - he was recommended on my local nest board.
