how do you know.....

if it is allergies or a cold?  K had super pink eyes yesterday that were weeping (both tears and mucus stuff).  This morning, his eyes were slightly crusted over, and he had yellow mucus draining from his nose.  He sneezes a lot, so this is not new.  We do have a dog, but this hasn't seemed to bother him in the past.  DH has horrible allergies, and sinuses (he actually had an operation to reduce his snoring which didn't even help).  Any thoughts on if it is a cold or allergies?  He is teething (lots of drool) and has a slight temp the last two days from 99.2-99.6.

Re: how do you know.....

  • We just went through this last week - my kids both had Sinus Infections (a good sign was the puffy eyes).  However, from your description have you ruled out Pink Eye?

He does have the puffy eyes, so I am wondering about a sinus infection now.  He has had pink eye before, and it usually starts in one eye first.  But, he didn't have the pinkness today, just the crusties.  I will have to look and see if the pink comes back.  Good call!

  • Yellow and greens usually mean an infection.  I would have your lo checked out maybe get him some medicine.  JMO
