xbox vs Wii

So this weekend me and H were thinking about getting Wii or xbox. My vote is Wii and he wants xbox. I was thinking I could play some tennis or yoga. He's more into the shooting and car race games. Do you have a wii or xbox and do you love it? We ended up not getting anything because I really think the Wii would be more fun! Thoughts?

Re: xbox vs Wii

  • We have a wii and I love it.   Also got the wii fit to go with it and it is so much fun

  • we have an X box 360, but there is only one game we have that I like and we don't really use it often; however we've discussed getting the Kinect for it and then I'd probably play more

We search all over a couple of years ago when the Wii first came out because they were so hard to get.  We've maybe used it 5 times Sad

We have a Wii and I love it.  Jason has an older xbox that he plays football and baseball games on, but the Wii is definitely more my style.  If your DH is into racing games or shooting games, I believe they make those for the Wii too...maybe just not as many as xbox.  I love the Wii because it is games that everyone can understand and play, plus you can download old school video games (not sure if you can do this on xbox or not?).  I downloaded the original Mario Bros 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog and spend way too many hours playing lol.  It's also fun to play the Wii Sports etc together as a couple; we really enjoy 'bowling' together and it gets us competitive against each other which I think is fun.

  • We have three consoles - Wii, Xbox, and PS3.

I'll play several games on the Wii - it's more intuitive and fun. It's also a lot more fun for playing with friends - can play MarioKart or Wii Bowling as group games, which don't really work on the other platforms.

I only play Peggle on the Xbox (too many buttons), and Flow and Flower on the PS3. DH prefers Xbox and PS3 for his shooting games - there aren't many hardcore boy games on Wii.

  • We have a 360 and a Wii.  They are so different, so it really depends on what you want.  The Wii is good for the Fit and Sports games that you guys can play together.  My husband uses it almost every morning and does Yoga also.

The 360 is good for the "boy" games like shooting, racing, etc.  The graphics are supremely better.  I don't have the Kinect, but I've heard it's really fun.  Honestly, if we didn't have the Wii, we probably would have bought the Kinect to have the best of both worlds - his kind of games and the more physical competitive games we can play together.  If you can afford it, I'd say get the 360 and Kinect.  GL!

Well said!! I agree with everything here!

And wanted to add, Mario Kart for Wii is my favorite game I've ever played, ever. I still go back and play it from time to time (it came out a while ago).

  • we have the 360-s(the newest one out) and we both love it the graphics are way better then the wii there so much stuff you can do with it, you can do netflix ( you can do it with the wii but you have to get them to send you a disc) they also has last fm its free music you can listen to, we use that a lot there's different stations and what not. as far a games go there is all kinds of different games for the 360 as well as you can get the kinect for it which makes almost like the wii BUT better there isnt a controller you have to try hold on to, it's a little body sensor, and the games for that are pretty cool, it comes with one game. we like the kinect sport, its all kinds of sports on one disc, boxing, track, soccer, bowling, volleyball...

Id say go for the xbox with the kinect!! Let us know what you end up getting!

  • We have a Wii and a decent variety of games; even still it doesn't get played all that often.

However, if we were to start fresh, I'd get the Xbox 360 w/Kinnect.  My friend's FI has it and she swears it's 10x's better than Wii because of the completely hands/controller-free system.  I think that'd be sweet.

We have Netflix hooked up through our Wii and didn't have to get a disc.  The Wii gave us an access code, we typed it into netflix.com and it's been hooked up ever since Smile

This is us too.  If you have the Kinect-- you'll have just as much fun with the xbox as a wii-- but it's a lot more expensive.  DH plays his xbox (I've never even turned it on).  We have the "fun" games on the wii- guitar hero, mario kart, dancing games, etc.  We use it the most to stream Netflix though to be honest.

  • I forgot to add that I THINK they are coming out with a new version of the Wii soon (no clue when) so that might be worth looking in to.
  • Almost everything I think has been said, but here are my two cents.

We have both.  DH came into the relationship with his XBox.  The only thing I have ever used it for was Netflix.  We thought about getting a Kinect to go with it, but that would require us to move furniture every time we wanted to use it so we decided against it.  That being said, I have played with a Kinect and it is fun.

We got the Wii so we could play games together.  We definitely use it more in winter than in summer.  I like the Wii better.  It is also great when my niece and nephews come over.  It is definitely more kid friendly IMO.  We also have Netflix on the Wii.
