How was the weekend??? Mine went by way too quickly as usual. I have a jam packed week, but am very much looking forward to a four day weekend!!!
Re: Happy Monday!
So exciting, Kiwi! She sure knows how to celebrate a birthday
If you can, post some pics of the birthday girl; I'd love to see!
Our weekend was really good. On Saturday we went to the MoS Food Festival and I really enjoyed it. The stands were just OK (mostly informational, not a ton of food samples), but the Main Stage presentations were awesome. We saw Tiffani Faison from Top Chef, Joanne Chang of Flour and Myers+Chang, the founder of Toscanini's, etc. Learned some stuff and just had a really nice afternoon.
Yesterday we played some beach volleyball and then went over to my parents' place for some BBQ.
I am sooooo looking forward to a four-day weekend too!
I only have a 3-day weekend but I'll take what I can get! Weekend was pretty good-- my FIL came and picked up some things to take back to his house (a table we had no room for and a few other things) and we set up the crib. We just need a mattress now-- the cat has jumped up on it and landed on the springs and I'm kind of nervous he's going to really hurt himself.
Our weekend was good. I got a haircut on Saturday, then we went out to dinner. Yesterday we ran errands, visited my father, and then one of my friends and 2 of my sisters came over for the True Blood season premiere.
DS was so cranky yesterday and kept waking up to fuss last night, and this morning I firgured I would check his mouth and, sure enough, tooth #3 has just barely cut through his gums. This is the first tooth on the top so he's going to really hurt when he bites now!
What did you think? After the WTFery of the first 10 minutes, I decided to just ignore that these shows are based on books at all. I think they were smart to skip ahead, mostly because I was tired of seeing Gran's house so banged up.
I had a crazy busy weekend. Saturday, I drove down to Springfield to visit my family. Had lunch with my mom, then stopped to pick up my brother and his girlfriend, and we headed over to my grandfather's. Brought them home, then decided to swing by my high school to see the tornado damage for myself. It was surreal. The neighborhood looks like a bomb went off - there's just giant trees on their sides, and blue tarps acting as roofs on practically every house. It was so sad. I'm just amazed there weren't more injuries/deaths based on the damage. Got home around 630, and collapsed with some take-out, and we watched The King of Kong again, which I love.
We had the rental car for the weekend, so yesterday we went over to Wollaston Beach and hit up Tony's for some beach food. Then we ran errands for a bit, and grabbed some dinner. It was nice to have a non-Zipcar and not have to rush around to get back for a certain time.
Overall I didn't love the episode. And the first 10 minutes were bizarre. They're mixing (very loose) story lines from books 10/11ish with book 4? But I'm glad they're doing the Jason storyline, and I hope they do the whole Crystal storyline for the drama of it.
Mine too! I guess if they're going to deviate from the books, though, I'd rather them go all out than stray just far enough to be annoying. I was afraid they were going to give Eric's storyline to Bill this season. I didn't love the episode either, but I thought season 3 was a disaster, so I'm tentatively hopeful it doesn't go further downhill. Though the first 10 minutes were not inspiring.
We went to the aquarium on Saturday. It was pretty fun. It's not as big as Boston's, but it's newer, so it's cleaner. They have a ton of snakes on exhibit here too including some of the hugest freaking cottonmouths, copperheads, and rattlers I have ever seen in my entire life. DS was fascinated. The staff had a few snakes on display as they held them and I figured as the mom of a boy, I have to get over my fear and approach things so I picked him up and let him get up close and see them!
I didn't let him touch them though...
We were going to go to a baseball game last night but he napped for over 3 hours so we would have been an hour late by the time he woke up. So we just stayed in.
I think they'll come back to the correct storylines. I saw a preview of Eric on the side of the road and Sookie pulls over and is calling his name and he looks all confused. They always manage to make the book plot only use half the season, and then the other half if new-for-tv.
So exciting Kiwi!!!
My weekend was expensive but good. We did a lot of landscaping in the yard, and finally bought a new mattress! We ended up going with Jordan's. They had the most reasonable prices for good quality choices.
Kiwi, happy birthday to your baby and congrats on the first steps!
