s/o NKOTB

Are there any other people who are the right age to have been fans of them (i.e. weren't 2 or 20 when they were big) who DESPISED them?

Based on here and facebook, I feel as though I'm the only one! :) I was a freshman in high school when Hangin Tough was released (according to wikipedia). Maybe even that was too old? There was one girl in my entire high school who was openly a huge fan and we all made fun of her.

  • I don't know about despised but "couldn't give two figs?"

Put me squarely in that camp.  I don't see the appeal.

I was in 6th grade and about the only one who was open about my love for NKOTB and I was made fun of.  I really didn't care though.  lol  I still <3 them, of course.  :)

I hated them.  It was a major falling out between my BFF and I.  Her room was plastered with pictures of Joey.  I had Duran Duran and Depeche Mode on my walls.

  • I was never at all into them....New Order, Erasure and the alternative groups were my thing back then.  Funny thing, though I got to go to their concert for free last time they were here.  Great floor seats too.  And I had a blast (mainly watching my  my friends freak out as if they were 12 year old's again).

Yes, yes, yes!! I don't think I know anyone now, who would want to see them.  So I'm tagging along with you when they come to town Wink

  • I was in 4th grade when I became a fan, and they lost popularity by the time I was in 7th grade. But yea those 3 years I was in to most boy bands, not just NKOTB.

loved me some New Edition back then!

  • I was in 9th grade when Hangin Tough was released. I was really into them when I was in 9th and 10th grade I could care less about them now.

I started listening the alternative and grudge music in 11th grade.

My brother will probably be there too.  I wouldn't mind seeing them either.  My brother is 5 years older than me so I got the best of both worlds... The boy bands of my generation, the awesome music of his. hehe

throw in tom cruise and ricky schroeder, and this is me.

  • I *think* I was in 6th grade when they were popular.  Eh - I liked them ok (just b/c it was popular radio music and everyone else did), but I wasn't gaga over them, or anything - didn't go to concerts, have the tapes, or posters/paraphanalia, etc.
  • Another one who didn't care.  I mostly listened to classic rock but was getting into The Smiths and Depeche Mode at that time.

  • I was too little for NKOTB, but sign me up for some 98 Degrees.

  • huge fan in 8th grade but in HS it was no longer cool. i wasnt allowed to listen to depeche mode, erasure, etc at that age. did love duran duran though. my mom really didnt let me listen to the cure. my friend darren was a huge cure fan and killed himself september of my freshman year so it was pop or country only in my house.  or 70s classic rock lol.
