We've had plans since Easter to do 4th of July at our house. My Mom knew about it and was totally on board with it. She called last night to say that they won't be able to make our noon-time bbq because they booked a 7pm flight for my brother and need to take him to the airport. I was pretty annoyed but brushed it off because she does this sort of thing all the time.
2 minutes later, she's complaining that we see M's parents so much more than we see them. Um, hello, I invite you over just as much... they just actually come!
Re: B&M Monday
ugh, that's really annoying, Kate. I hate when MIL tries to say they never get to see us, when they are welcome to come just as often as my family does. It's not my fault they have 2 little girls and a trip to visit is a bit harder than it is for my family!
My B&M is that I had hives again last night, and got all loopy from the Benadryl! GAH!
My cat is traumatized and hates H. We had 2 friends over last night for dinner and a movie, and she hid under the bed all night. At one point, H tried to go in there and pick her up, but she freaked the fvck out and started squirming so bad that he dropped her (while she sliced the heck out of his fingers at the same time.) By the time we went to bed, she was still hiding. I woke up this morning and she was out, and let me love on her and rubbed on my legs, but as soon as H got out of bed, she high-tailed it under the couch again. I hope she isn't under there the whole day.
EDIT: And as soon as I press 'post', she emerges. Phew.
I spent most of last week in NYC and burned through ungodly amounts of money. I feel like i'll never catch up.
(Even though it was ALL worth it b/c my twin sister got MARRIED!!!! - it does still sting!)
The bridal shower that we through yesterday in the end was really nice and everything worked out. BUT...3 of us went at 9:30 to start setting up, the other 3 girls plus the bride's mother were supposed to come between 10-10:30 so that the first 3 of us could leave to go get dressed (the others were coming already dressed since they were coming later) shower was at noon. By 10:30, none of the others were there yet. MY DH called around 10:45 and asked if we needed any help, so I put him to work and had him come down to stay with the stuff (it was outside at a park) so the rest of us could go get ready. By 11:00, they STILL weren't there. So they spent all morning getting ready and then we had about 20 mins so that we could get back there before guests arrived. Because they were so late we were still setting things up when guests started arriving, which I HATE. On top of that the girl who took care of the favors and who told us earlier in the week that she didn't need any help and that they were taken care of, DID NOT FINISH THEM! She was working on them while the shower was going on. Really?!
In the end it was fine, but the first 3 of us did pretty much all of the work setting up, etc and then they never even said sorry for being so late or even oh everyone looks so nice thanks for setting it all up.
Cole - did you figure out what the hives are from?
Liz - Our one cat pulls that kind of stuff too... he always gets over it.
Another B&M from me: We were planning to go to Europe next June. My cousin got engaged last week and booked her wedding for June. It now means we have 3 weddings in June and there's no way we can go to Europe that month without missing one - which we don't do.
I'm kind of bummed that our plans are now up in the air... especially because I got M a we're-going-to-Euope-in-less-than-a-year themed anniversary gift. Foiled!
Kate's Recipe Box || Relatively Bookish
My boobs are getting ridiculously large. I had to go and buy new bras, again, on Friday. I spent about $80 on two bras from a maternity store here. Was so excited to feel comfortable again, they felt great in the store for the few minuets I had them on. Got home, wore it for about an hour and it is SOOOOOO uncomfortable. I already took all the tags off, so I really hope they let me return them.
I feel like an emotional mess. I started crying, not just tears but actual crying, last night because I wanted to change the sheets on the bed before I went to sleep and my husband hadn't put them in the dryer so they were still wet and I didn't want to wait another hour to go to bed. Ridiculous. I knew I was being stupid, but I seriously could not help myself.
I got up at 4 this morning, for no real reason. Simply wide awake and could not go back to sleep. I need a nap now, but I am working until 3.
that's about it.. this is a stressful week, but so far, nothing bad has happened.
I am currently addicted to a few bras from Soma (IDK if they ship to Canada....) They are so comfy and still "nice" looking, not maternity/nursing, but pretty awesome, and you could totally utilize them as nursing bras later.
I get the whole "huge boob" thing...with Anders I went from a B to DD...which at least helped to balance out my large butt.
I solved the boob issue by buying cotton nursing bras around 22 weeks. They stretch a lot and were much more comfy than normal bras...the underwire started digging into my belly.
No real B&M from me at the minute...except I need a maid. Spending far too much time doing a "spring clean"..but I'm glad when its done.

I know who I get my health advice from!
What are you looking at?
Bra extenders saved me from having to buy to many new bras after the first batch! You can buy them at Motherhood and other stores as well...
B&M - My inlaws not calling before stopping over and using their key. You know I am 40 weeks pregnant and prefer to wear a t-shirt and nothing else!
Me too! and they hurt. But mine is because my milk came in yesterday. I am still having a little trouble getting D to nurse enough but when he is I feel like I'm drowning him.
Talked to a LC this morning and she gave me the go-ahead to pump to relieve the engourment. 4 oz stored so far! (ok so that's not a B&M at all)
we think ib profen... but even that doesn't make sense. It's just the only thing we've pin pointed that I did both days and both about 20-30 minutes before I broke out.
My B&M... I dont think I will be hired after the maternity leave I am covering is up. I am super bummed. I was hoping the girl didnt want to come back full time but she does.
You can always just pump for about 5 minutes and then try nursing. That is what I had to do with the kids when they were learning. Thats good you have a good let down.
That is from about 5 mins, each side, twice - so an ounce at each pumping. I'm pretty excited because I'm not as worried about being able to continue BF when I go back to work. Ricky is excited because he will get to feed the baby (eventually).
just be careful not to pump too long, I was super engorged when Wyatt was 4 days old so I broke down and pumped. Two hours later I was in agony because I had basically told my body that I needed more. If you find yourself having the same problem, I found that soaking them in a hot bath for a minute or so relieved it very well without drying out my supply. Cabbage leaves are also supposed to work really well.
