Lets hear your Maui Recs!
With the end of the school year winding down I almost forgot we are going to Hawaii in 2 weeks! Time to start planning out what we should do, where we should eat, what we should skip, etc.
What would you recommmend (for a pregnant person

Re: Lets hear your Maui Recs!
Snorkling in Moloki crater (we went on the Four Winds 2). I totally think you could do this pregnant because they had all sorts of floaty things to use - it really wasn't any swimming, just floating around looking down. And it was so fun.
Maui Ocean Center is a nice little aquarium. There's also some shops over there that were cute - we got some banging cookies at one of them.
Capishe? was fantastic for a nice dinner. My favorite meal of the honeymoon by far and probably one of the best of my life.
Old Lahania Luau!
Kate's Recipe Box || Relatively Bookish
Kate has a lot of good suggestions. I also recommend the Road To Hana. I don't remember any of the hikes to the waterfalls being overly strenuous, so I think you can probably do them pregnant.
Also, I recommend buying or checking out from your library the Maui Revealed book. It was really helpful, and has lots of great information in it.
Have a great trip!!!
We are staying at the The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas. We have a car rental though so are able to get around.
We loved Mama's Fish House. Our dinner reservation was scheduled for during sunset and it was amazing. We really enjoyed the food.
My favorite part of staying on Ka'anapali beach was walking the walk way behind all the hotels each evening. Those sunsets on Maui were one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
Enjoy your trip!
I'm just going to list everything I can think of here...
After we leave the airport we always stop at Costco to stock up on POG (passion fruit, orange, guava juice), and other snacks. We always stay in a condo, so we also get bagles and lunchmeat for breakfast or to make sandwiches with if we're going to be on the Road to Hana or Haleakala crater. DH bought me a GORGEOUS lei there, much prettier than the ones they sell in the markets there. It wasn't the purple orchid lei that most people get. If I think of it, I'll post a pic later.
Many love Haleakala for the sunrises, but I don't like getting up early on vacation - even though it's a 3 hour time difference! We go for sunset instead and it is awe inspiring. We get up there a little early so we can stake out a spot and get a parking place in the lot. Take a blanket from your hotel room and any sweaters/jackets you might have. It's crazy windy up there (my hat flew off and DH had to go running down the crater to get it...) and gets sooooooo cold! But seriously, it's amazing.
Old Lahaina Luau is awesome if you can get a reservation. Sometimes they sell out months in advance though so I don't know if you can get a ticket or not. The Aloha Mixed Plate is next door and they make all of the food for the luau next door in this restaurant. You can order the same food too. Everything we had there is fabulous - coconut prawns, lau lau, DH loves the loco mocho, teriyaki breaded steak, puu puu platter, etc... tell your DH to get a $3 mai tai if you're there before 6. They are the best on the island. We named our cat Mai Tai after them I loved them so much... sunset there is ridiculously beautiful too as it's an outdoor eatery right on the shore.
Other food we loved:
Kimos (right in Lahaina, great dinner - we always make a reservation there). Gorgeous views at sunset. Go online and get a coupon for free hula pie. Then, as our server once told us, keep your receipt. There's a coupon on the bottom for a free hula pie. We just bring our receipt home and keep in a file until we go again - it's like free hula pie for life!!!
Cool Cats has seriously awesome burgers and maui onion rings. MUCH better than Cheeseburger in Paradise. Back in the day, Cheeseburger was fun but their service totally sucks now and their food isn't nearly as good.
Mama's makes you feel like you've been taken away to a deserted island. We like going for lunch because 1) it's SLIGHTLY less expensive and 2) you can watch the wind surfers
Lahaina Fish Co. great fish a couple doors down from Kimos on Front Street in Lahaina.
Get a shaved ice. It will totally make your day. Sit and eat it under the banyan tree in Lahaina, or stop in Hana City and get one for the car ride home.
I'm not sure about recommending the Gazebo or not. We used to think they had the BEST breakfast on the island, but my mom got food poisoning last month and she thinks it was from their eggs
It took her about 3-4 days to start feeling herself again... not fair! If you go, I would say to stick with the macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup.
If you go to Hana get an early start. We said the next time we go, we'll power down to the 7 sacred pools without making any stops. Then, we'll stop at everything on the way back. All of the tour buses do the opposite and it can get really crowded. Don't make all of the stops they recommend in the Revealed Book. Some of the stops require TRESSPASSING... not cool in my book. Some of the stops are super muddy too. We just skipped those ones. Make sure you take water shoes for when you're in the 7 sacred pools area.
Molokini is a fun ride, but there aren't nearly as many fish there as there used to be. The guides on our boat said that the crater has been damaged from the amount of sunblock that people have worn over the years. We went last summer b/c DH had never been and we did see some fish and eels, but next time we're just going to rent our own snorkel equipment and go snorkel at Black Rock. We did the Molokini/Lahai 7.5 hour snorkel tour with the Pacific Whale Foundation. I don't know if I would do that one if I were pregnant though. It was really rocky when we came back from Lanai.
Speaking of black rock, go to the Sheraton and watch the diver jump off of the rocks into the ocean at sunset.
Whalers Village is fun to walk around, but most of the shops are ridiculously expensive.
Go on Sunday to the Maui's Own craft fair at the city hall area near Lahaina. You'll see signs from the main highway on your way to the hotel. It's $1 to get in, and the locals go there to sell handmade items. We get most all of our souvies here. Better deal and more authentic than the stuff in town that's mostly made in China. If you buy any jam, put it in your checked bags. We learned that the hard way
They sell cute xmas ornaments there (we have one that's a real pineapple!) and tons of other cool stuff.
In the Revealed book there's a drive you can take that is almost as pretty as the road to Hana and it doesn't take nearly as long. It goes north of Lahaina and you see a blowhole and lots of other cool stops. I would turn around once you get to the dirt road though. We learned that the hard way - it turns into a 1 lane dirt road in some spots and I literally had to look out from the window to make sure we didn't go over the edge and plunge over the side. Even worse was when people we coming the opposite way and we had to back down the hill to accommodate them... so just stop once the dirt road starts!
We received tons of compliments on our christmas cards last year. We had our picture taken with the parrots and macaws in Lahaina by the ice cream shop. It's a great tourist trap that we couldn't resist.
Hilo Hatties is a shop in town with tons of hawaiian clothing. DH always buys a shirt or 2 there. They always give you a shell necklace when you walk in the door and they have free punch and water to sip on which is great b/c it's probably going to be muggy!
Anytime we had trouble parking in Lahaina we parked in the Hilo Hattie parking lot. If you buy a postcard in the ABC store they will validate your parking for a few hours or so.
Don't get sucked in by the time share people in the little shops in Lahaina. DH did the first time we went and when he turned the man down on the timeshare, he offered DH some maui wowie instead... ugh!
Buy a pair or sanuk yoga mat flip flops. THey are my favorite!
Have a fabulous time - they say Maui No Ka Oi - Maui is the best! If you ask me, it's true! Let me know if you have any more questions!
ETA: Buy the baby a cute outfit too
Everyone else has great ideas, and some things we didn't do! DH and I loved our dinner the first night at Cheeseburger in Paradise - I got a burger with pineapple and guac - and it sounds weird, but it was the BEST burger I've ever had.
Also, I totally agree with the POG (I wish I could find it here!) and the shaved ice.
