All of a sudden this weekend DD starting telling me she had to go potty. Every time she did I would take her. Some times she did go and sometimes she didn't. Obviously she is getting close and I know daycare will help (they already told us) but I am still clueless. Do we do pullups and if we do I assume they still hold pee/poop in if she does go in them but I'm sure there is more to it and I just don't know. Any suggestions? We are fine with diapers and always said we were going to wait until she could tell us and obviously she can now but at the same time I don't know if she REALLY knows yet that she has to go.

Re: Talk to me about PTing
you could always try pull ups for a bit and see.
we never did pull ups for daytime, we went straight to underwear. pull ups were for night time only (it will be a while before she can make it through the nigh without wetting, even if she is pottying well during the day).

My daycare does not allow pullups. So we went straight to underwear. (I have tried them for night time, but I think they are an evil marketing gimmick for daytime use. But then my kid pt'd long before she could get her underwear down and there was no way she was getting a pullup off of herself, so if she can't do it herself, then why not just use the cheaper diaper?)
But there was a long period where DD did what your DD is doing now. Just go with it for a bit until you feel like she's doing it a lot, or has been doing it consistently for a while. And then do the 3 day run around nekkid pt'ing method.
I only did Pull Ups for daycare and nighttime. At home we went straight into underwear. I just took her when she asked and when she wore panties I took her once every hour, but didn't make a big deal about it. It was just time to sit on the potty. She either went or didn't.
My kid is kind of crazy though. She wet herself once and I swear cried for hours about it. She never had an accident in her pants after that, not even at night.
I'm pretty sure this means potty training DS will be a nightmare since DD was wayyyy too easy!

Crazy Christmas Kids!
Our daycare required us to pull ups for a while. We potty trained my DD when she started to bring us a diaper to change her when she was dirty. It was during the big "freeze" earlier this year that we did it. Daycare was closed on Friday, and I had to stay off work with her, so we decided that would be a good weekend, DH also stayed home with her on the following Monday. We took her to the potty every 30 minutes at first, whether she had to go or not and we made a big deal about it when she did go, etc.We tried to use fruit snacks as rewards, but she was more into the stickers so we did that instead.
At home we only used panties. I was afraid to use pull ups because I read somewhere that they are too much like a diaper and take away the wet "yucky" feeling so it may hinder their motivation to go in the potty.
Like I said daycare required pull ups when we asked about it, so I put a regular panty on underneath the pull up in hopes that when she did have an accident she would be able to tell. After a couple of weeks the daycare told us that we didn't have to use pull ups anymore because she would tell them consistently when she needed to go & they had a regular schedule of when they took her to the restroom, etc.
That first extended weekend was exhausting, but after that things went much better.
we read that you could do it in a day (hah!) if your child is ready. that didn't happen, but we made it through relatively quickly.
we went cold turkey at first. tons of accidents, but she did NOT like it when that happened. ended up doing pullups for a while and only putting her in panties at home. when she started going more consistently on the potty and staying in the same pull up all day her teachers thought we needed to go to panties full time. so we did on memorial day weekend. she's only had a few accidents since then.
i'm not ashamed to admit that we bribed her with panties and jelly beans. we got minnie mouse, princess and dora panties. that was a huge selling point because "you don't want to get minnie dirty". we also gave her 2 jelly beans every time she went on the potty for the first couple of weeks.
good luck!
there is no shame in that! rewarding them is a great way to go if they're responsive to it!!!
we made a PRODUCTION out of saying out loud when we were going to the potty, and how our body was feeling. like, i'd get up from the couch and say "Hey Guys! My body is telling me it needs to go potty! I'm going to listen to my body and go pee!"
DH, DD, and I did this, and he wanted in on the fun... so when he got the feeling, he'd say it too. We all got very excited and would say, "Go! Listen to your body! Good job!!!!"
He would be so proud of himself. It was hilarious when we did it and he wasn't even around... like I'd say it and DH would be all "Thanks for the info! Go to the potty, big girl!"
