Do you have a hard time keeping a clean home, are you meticulous, or do you let your house go sometimes?[Poll]

And in case any of you were wondering, I put that it's awful. I suck at it, but I'm going through my summer cleaning phase which is why I'm interesting in other people situations. Btw, your vote is anonymous; I can't even see who said what.

None of the above. Usually the house (at least the main level) is pretty clean, right now it's very messy considered how we normally keep it.

A poll is a good why to start a conversation.

Reasons I like using polls:

1. If a person doesn't want to give a big response to an inquiry, they can just click on an answer thereby contributing to the conversation.

2. They quantify peoples' responses.

3. They are easy to understand as a both a responder (usually) and a reader.

4. They get people thinking.

What's with all the distrust? I like hearing other peoples' opinions instead of spouting off my own. People don't tend to respond to open ended questions. If the nest didn't want us to use polls ever they wouldn't give us the option. Since not many site have this option but this one does, I like to use it. I used the knot to get married and liked the community, but the distrust is making me rethink that position. I'm so sorry I care what other people think.

I could never keep up with H and our roommate to begin with, but now that we have our daughter, this place will never be clean. Men do not like to help with chores! (If you know any who do, please have them talk to H).

That being said, I also spend my precious free time online trying to desperately pretend to be normal lol so it's partially my fault.

I'm still at work (on lunch) and my plan is to go home, clean, do laundry, brush both cats and finish my homemade thank you cards for the bridal shower. Hmmmm, we'llsee how much of that gets done once i get home and the thought of reading in my chair in the yard looks.I really do have the best intentions. Lol

I hate the way I live. I'd say its not necessarily dirty, but definitely messy. Like one of the other responders, my BF is absolutely useless when it comes to chores. Not gonna lie, I let the dishes pile up from time to time just because its so frustrating. We both work full time the only difference is my schedule never changes and his varies. Is it wrong that I feel like the maid service and resent it?

It is not wrong you feel like a maid service. I do to. I understand that my H takes out the trash, does the kitty litter, handles the bills, and does the lawn (he pays a guy to do it) and that I do everything else: dishes, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, toilet, you name it, it's my job. I work full time and my H doesn't help with any of these things. It's very frustrating, especially when he says I don't pick up after my self (granted I don't). I just wish he would help a little more. I'm not looking for a thank you, that seems silly, but help would be so welcome.

We were actually talking about this last night. I go in spurts where I will keep the main level pretty much spotless but usually we keep it within 30 minutes of spotless. Meaning a load of dishes trash taken out and clutter sorted and we are good to go for company. Now that we are making a mor concerted effort to eat at the table every night it has helped us keep everywhere a bit cleaner so we don't use the table as a dumping ground.

I think our house is clean. I clean it on a weekly basis (dust/vacuum twice a week, kitchen and bathroom once a week.) I have things that I do daily (pick up, do the dishes, sweep the kitchen, etc). I do laundry once a week. I think it's clean enough that if someone were to come over, I wouldn't have to do a mad rush clean to get the house "company ready". I just would pick up any stray items and go on my way!

I would not say that it is spotless, but I try to keep each area picked up and wiped down as we go. Then I do a full on cleaning once a week'ish. It's hard keeping a house clean though!

Mine is pretty bad, I don't let people over it gets so bad sometimes. I work nights, so I sleep during the day and at night while my husband is sleeping I'm not usually able to get a lot of cleaning done because I don't want to wake him up, that's probably why our bedroom and bath are one of the worst culprits right now. Plus, I just like being lazy, I like to use the excuse that on my first day off of work I'm too tired to do anything besides sleep and laze around the house. Any suggestions on how to keep me and the husband motivated? I like the idea of eating at the table every night to keep it clear, that would probably help.

I can relate, feel like my DH thinks just beacuase he gets home a little later than he should never cook dinner. Funny thing is he doesn't cook all the time on the weekend either. House ork is not women's work especially in the day and age where we all have to WORK. That applies both IN and OUT side the home.
