Hi ladies! I know it's been a while since I've posted on here. June has been a whirlwind month, especially since my baby boy arrived 3 weeks ahead of schedule!
My water broke at 6am in the morning on Friday, June 17th. We didn't even finish packing our hospital bags yet, so you can only imagine how much of a mess we were in, trying to get out of the apartment. Thankfully, the hospital was only 15 minutes away. By the time we got admitted, I was at 3cm and 100% effaced. I also had killer back labor and was begging for the epidural from the beginning.
Once the epidural took effect, I was a happier camper. My contractions before the epidural were 3 minutes apart but spaced out after they gave me the drugs. So, a while after the epidural I was also give Pitocin to get me back on track.
Because of this, I assumed I would have a super long labor and tried to take a nap. DH even went back home to get his own hospital bag that he forgot in our rush to the hospital. When he get back to the labor and delivery room an hour later, it was past noon and I was in pain again. I kept clicking the IV for more of the epidural and the nurse told me that I only get a dose every 20 minutes. It hurt so much that I was clicking away hoping I would get an extra dose somehow (makes zero sense, I know). ![]()
Anyway, around 12:45pm I kept bugging the nurse to check my progress since I didn't understand why I was in so much pain despite the epidural. The nurses told me that I would only feel the need to push, they never mentioned that the urge came with pain. Ha!
I told DH that I needed to push so please get the nurses and the doctor. The nurse was shocked when she checked me since I was already at 10cm and totally ready to push 6 hours into labor! I pushed for 40 minutes and it really only felt like 10, thank goodness.
Lil' B was born on June 17th at 1:28pm weighing 6lbs 14oz and 20 inches. See siggy for a pic ![]()
P.S. I thought I was already FB friends with everyone on this board. Please PM me if we are not!
Re: A birthday surprise for DH!
Congrats again! It sounds like you had a good labor, so glad! He is absolutely adorable, I've been looking at all of the pics you put on FB.
And as a side note- the first part of our birth stories are almost exactly the same, weird!
I am not on facebook so congrats! I try to lurk on this board even though I used to post here and there but life at work is too crazy!
Its so funny because I saw you and your DH when you went to your class at the hospital about 2 weeks ago. You came into the BF'ing class and you were in the wrong one. I was in the BF class and recognized you from this board and the WCF board.
Your little guy is so precious! Glad everyone is doing well.
Thanks ladies! My mind is still racing from all of the adrenaline. Heh.
OMG what a small world! GL and have a quick and safe delivery with your LO. Let me know if you ever want to GTG, I'm always up for play dates.
