I'm actually in the mood to start this thread this week ![]()
How are we doing this week? Here's to hoping we're all optimistic cause this thread was a total Debbie Downer last week.
According to yesterday's weigh-in (not using today's because AF is an EVIL WHORE), I'm down 2.6lbs from last week! Not to sound like an alcoholic, but I've cut my wine habit to one night during the week & on the weekends only. That's HUGE considering I love a glass of wine almost every night. While it was always within my calories, I think the effect on my metabolism was definitely preventing me from losing weight.
I've quit counting calories. I can eat 1200-1500 calories a day & be perfectly fine, but the second I'm aware that I'm only eating that much... I become a ravenous beast who cannot be fulfilled. I've cut out a lot of processed foods. I actually stocked up on a lot of healthy stuff at Costco over the weekend - hummus, almonds, carrots, blueberries, babybel cheese, almond butter, chicken breast, frozen veggies, etc.
I've also been doing 15-20 HIIT sessions on the treadmill after my New Rules of Lifting for Women (NROLFW) sessions plus a 30-45 minute run once or twice a week for the past two weeks. I think it's made a significant difference as I'm down 5.4lbs for the entire month (when I wasn't really trying until last week). I finally finished stage 1 of NROLFW & I can see some differences in my body - specifically my arms & butt!
Re: Tuesday Accountability
After last Saturday's jog/walk, I started having pains and felt awful, so I think I'm officially done with attempting to jog. Strictly walking and light strength training, like squats. I try to also spend 15-20 minutes stretching each night because my hips and back are so tight and sore.
I had no change on the scale at the OB last week, so I'm still at +13, next appt. is Thursday and I'm expecting to gain a pound or so. With 5 weeks to go, I'm feeling great about 20lbs. or less! However, I can feel my thighs all jiggly and I know I've lost quite a bit of muscle mass
Wah. But I'll get it back eventually!
I'm down 2 pounds! My eating had been veering off track, but this past week I did really well. My shopping trip this past weekend was really encouraging. Whereas last week I was whining about having so much further to go, this week I'm in the mindset of sure, I have more too lose, but I've done really good so far and can see a difference.
I've done some walking this past week, but nothing more strenuous. I've been seeing a chiropractor since last week and he doesn't want me to do anything that might stress my back right now while we're working together. He did recommend that I should add in some weights to my cardio work eventually, so hopefully I'll be trying some of that soon.
My Ovulation Chart
Congratulations! That's a really great mental achievement! It's extremely difficult to change your mindset & I'm proud of you!
Nice job ladies! It's awesome to see some big drops this week after so many of us had a bad week last week. By some miracle I'm down 2.2 pounds this week so I'm really happy. I'm also at the point where I've developed a better mindset and I think that's making a big difference!
ETA: The reason I say it's a miracle is that I ate a decent big of junk this weekend and drank a good bit of wine. Even with all that I still ate less junk and drank less wine than I would have if I wasn't aware of what I was putting in my body, so I'm assuming that is why I still lost.
I finally cracked and joined sparkpeople to track what I've been eating because between low supply and not losing weight, I was obviously doing something wrong. It was really challenging trying to figure out how many calories I should be intaking because it seems to vary wildly with activity level, which is hard to quantify for me. I checked out the Healthy Body Calculator, and I'm still not sure I'm getting an accurate answer for my lifestyle. But, after tracking for 2 weeks, I can see a trend from when I eat at different levels and how it affects supply and weight, so I think I have a better idea.
So, now doing that, after being stuck at the same weight for 4 months, I've lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks! woot! And I've had no supply issues. I'm really excited. Oh, and I'm trying to do at least 200 situps a day, ideally 400+.
That's awesome!! I would imagine when you add BFing to the mix that its much harder to figure out what your intake should be.
That's true for anyone.. Not just those BFing. Yes, there needs to be a calories in/calories out deficit, but if you aren't eating enough to fuel yourself, your body will latch on to what it has.
Glad you're figuring out your magic formula!
I'm lazy so that's why I like WWs. It does the work for me. I know the plan doesn't work as well for everyone, but if I stay within my points, I lose. Now...always being good and staying within my points is another story...
I think that's why WW works for so many people... They do the science FOR you.
This is exactly why I am joining WW as soon as I can after Olivia is born. I know they have a program for BF women so hopefully it works. I was 20 pounds over my ideal weight when I get pregnant so I have some work to do.
Lucky I am glad to see your success on FB with the Skinny Taste website I plan on utilizing this a lot for dinner ideas.
Thanks. I have never really been much of a cook but I was determined to meal plan once I was done with school aka had a regular schedule, and we were in our own place again. So far every recipe we've tried has been really good and we've voted as a repeat.
DH doesn't have a problem eating healthy as long as it's still filling and not some ridiculous diet. He is naturally very thin (150 lbs soaking wet and he lifts) so he doesn't need to lose weight but he is aware that he could have healthier eating habits. I think right now he just enjoys having dinner planned out ahead of time almost every day. I'm on week 3 and going strong so hopefully I can keep it up.
I'm doing WW and BFing. It works for me. I'm weigh 14 pounds less since I started. I joined when L was 12 weeks. I should have joined when he was 6, but I was anal about my supply. They give you an extra 14 points daily, if you are BFing.
Like DP said, it has been a struggle for me to figure out what works to keep my supply up and my scale moving down.
This is good to hear. I am excited to be able to start at 6 weeks.
oh, poop.
dup
I was really good this week aside from five million cheddar puffs, etc. at a shower on Saturday. I weigh in on WW tomorrow, but I think I'll lose about two pounds.
I can't do low carb all day. I just can't. So I've been having cereal for breakfast, salad with protein for lunch and protein and vegetable for dinner with string cheese, 100 calorie pack almonds and lots of fruit for snacks.
Tonight I got pedicures with friends and we were there until about 8:30 and I SO just wanted to stop somewhere instead of coming home to cook. But I didn't! I came home and made effing tilapia and a shitton of steamed broccoli like a fuuking adult.
I gained 2 pounds this week.. I blame it on BOGO Ben & Jerry's at Publix though
I'm up 14 pounds total for the pregnancy, with 2 weeks to go.. so I'm good with that.
I really miss running.. a lot. I can't wait 'til she's here and the doctor clears me to run again.
