Peachtree Road Race & just turned 4 months pregnant - walk it?

What would you do?

When I went a few weeks ago to the dr..the midwife said no problem.  I could do it.  A few fam are saying I'm a little nuts to still do it.  (typically, i would run but, not this time)

Would you bow out this time?  Or go for it & walk it?

  • I am guessing that you meant to post this on The Bump.. But, if I were you, I would totally go for it! If you are feeling fine, then it's no big deal. I rode the MS Bike race when I was only 2 months pregnant. I just listened to my body, and when it was time to break.. I took a rest. There are studies that show that there are many benefits to exercising while pregnant, both for you and your baby. Have fun!

  • Thank you!  Yep, I did mean to post there.  I wasn't thinking which board I posted that early in the morning.  OOPS  Smile

I'd ask the H&F board too, but I have zero plans to stop being active once I'm pg.

I asked my OB/GYN about working out when pg and she told me "as long as you're doing it before getting knocked up, you're ok to do it after" within reason, of course. I'm not going to start heavy deadlifts but I'm not going to stop going to the gym either.

  • As long as your doctor ok'ed it, I'd go for it!

We had a H&F Nestie that ran the Boston Marathon at 24 weeks.

I think the general rule of thumb is that you can maintain the same level of workout before you got pregnant while you are pregnant.  Just don't increase the level of activity and use good judgement.
  • I walked it pregnant last year, I would do it.
