Hi Ladies!!
I feel like I only post anymore to give an update on TTC, but I lurk all the time, mostly from my phone, and for some reason I can't respond to posts from my phone.
So, for my update: I went to my OBGYN last Tuesday, and after getting all of my blood work (5 weeks worth) back she saw that I DID ovulate on 6/9. I had AF on 6/16. GREAT news that I O'd, but now we have to figure out why we're not preggo yet. I have to go for an HCG (they put a liquid through my uterus to go through my tubes to see if there's any blockage). If any of you have had that done let me know how it is. Dr said it's not painful, just a little "crampy" afterwards. I can't schedule that test until the first day of my next AF, plus it has to be on 8th-10th day of AF, plus no sex for 10 days. My H has to go for testing too, to see how little soldiers are...of course to him there's no issue at all.
We'll hopefully have all of this testing done within the next few weeks.
Again, if any of you have had this done, let me know how it is. Also, if your insurance didn't cover any of these procedures, do you remember the cost? So far, my H's insurance doesn't coverage his test at all.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
Re: Update on TTC
I know 2 women that had this procedure done, and within 6 weeks they were both preggo. Not sure the test is supposed to do it, but it almost sounds like it unblocks the tubes, if there is a blockage.
That's exciting to hear!! I'm anxious to get it done, but don't want to get my hopes up at the same time.
I just got back from an appointment from my OB/GYN too! I took Clomid last cycle and I didn't ovulate
So, my doc prescribed me a round of Provera to jump start my period and then I will do one more round of Clomid (I will now double my dosage). My H will be doing his semen analysis next week but I am doubtful that he is the issue.
Anyway, instead of getting the HSG like you, I will be doing laparoscopy surgery. My doctor is opting to do the surgery rather than the HSG because there is a concern that my c-section scarring could be preventing me from getting KU. I guess through the HSG the scarring would not be obvious?
But I have heard the HSG really isn't painful, so GL to you! Sorry you are having issues with IF, they suck big time! I have my fingers crossed that you will be KU soon!

I am not sure if the SA is covered by my insurance of not, but the paper work my doctor gave me stated that if it is not covered the fees are $45. I am sure this varies doctor to doctor but this should be a ballpark figure. At least it's nothing that will break the bank!
But you bring up a good point, I wonder if my surgery will be covered? Hmm, I will need to find that out!

Thank you. I hope you get KU soon too! It is a lot of stress and a lot to go through, but it is all so worth it in the end.

That's good news that you did O!
I had a HSG done. I don't want to scare you, especially because I think I just had a bad experience, but when I had it done it hurt like he**! Now, there could have been a few reasons for this- my tubes may have been a little blocked. I also think it has something to do with the Dr. doing it. My regular OB did it. But I also has a salene-infused sonogram (similar to HSG) and it didn't hurt. My insurance covered that test and I paid a either $50 or $100 hospital copay. My H's SA wasn't covered and I want to say it was around $200.
GL!!
The test is not meant to unblock tubes, but to instead check for blockage. However, if you have a simple blockage sometimes the dye will push it out, allowing you to get pregnant after the test.
The way my Dr. explained it, the HSG could show some things, but you could have issues (endo, scarring, etc.) and the HSG would miss them, while in an lap you would def see them.
I am a little surprised that your Dr. is chosing to give you meds without doing these tests first. From what my Dr.'s have said and what I've read you would have HSG, SA, and bw (which I know you've had) before taking any meds.
Have you taken Provera yet? I do not like taking it!
The surgery will most likely be covered because it is not a infertility test (meaning other people have it done for other reasons and it is looking for scarring). I have to pay my hospital copay, which I think is $100. I called the office and the insurance company twice to confirm.
Yeah, I kind of agree with you. My doc said he wanted to start this route because a) I was pregnant before b) I had a miscarriage in December and c) I have trouble ovulating. IDK, probably wasn't the best route : Oh well, at least now I am getting the testing done!
