Hey ladies! I'm going on my first cruise for our honeymoon and I need help with my wardrobe! We will be leaving out of Galveston to Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Cozumel. It is a 7 day trip. If anyone has been on this cruise any excursions you recommend? Thanks in advance
Re: First time on a cruise!
have fun!
take a bottle opener if you plan to have buckets of beer... it's annoying waiting on a waiter to open your beer for you when you're ready. and BYO sunscreen because it's pricey on the ship.
i loved every kayaking/snorkeling excursion we went on. half-drunk snorkeling is one of my favorite vacation pastimes : )
my photography blog
On our cruise, I lived in shorts, a swimsuit, and tank top during the day. I always changed for dinner into a dress or 'dressy' capris and a nice top.
Bring all your toiletries, especially plenty of sunscreen. Bring along something like a 'beach bag' to help lug your stuff up to the sun-deck, and for your excursions.
Sign up for your dinners as soon as you can b/c the good times are usually taken pretty fast. I liked bringing a dress for the dinners, so I could "dress nice", but there were a range of jeans/t-shirts to sequin full length gowns, so you can really dress it up or down. Also - if there any of the shows on board you want to go to - make sure you sign up early - just in case they fill up.
We otherwise lived on the deck in bathing suits and shorts. The excursions will go by really fast b/c you usually have to be back at a certain time at your port, so I wouldn't plan on doing shopping, hanging out, etc. afterwards. Or if you do - stay near the ship.
We brought along mini bottles of liquor that we slipped into our free fruit punch - but that was before the big liquid checking craze - so not sure if they check for that stuff before boarding, now - but it saved us quite a bit of money! The drinks can get pricey - but it's nice that it was really the only thing on the ship you had to pay for.
If you are in a "normal" cabin with no window - it gets DARK with the lights off! So, if you are used to a little light or wouldn't like that - you may want to bring a nightlight or somehting (that sounds weird, but I am guessing some ppl might be freaked out by it).
The bathrooms are really small and the showers are just barely functional, so don't expect to have luxurious time in there. lol.
If you have a pool on board, it is usually saltwater - not that it matters, but just thought I would mention it. Also - I wouldn't expect to get in the pool much -usually it's overrun with kiddos and a slide, etc. Don't know if there is a separate "adult" pool on some of them or not.
Have fun! I actually enjoyed our cruise, but I like to just lay out and laze around, so it was perfect for me. ;-)
