Last night...

Was our last night living with the ILs!!!!!!!!! Yesterday and today were going to be my first days off that I could spend the whole two days cleaning, packing, sorting, purging and then after work on Wed and Thursday finish up. Friday was going to be the big moving day.

Well, bc of this side job DH has we had to move it all up to TODAY! I spent ALL day yesterday cramming in all the stuff I thought I had a few days to do. lol yes I know it's absurd to think I didn't start preparing for moving weeks ago, but I've moved SO many times and we've been SO busy AND most of our stuff was still packed from when we moved back here from FL (Crying ) that I really didn't think I needed that much time.

So yesterday we did a lot of packing and moving, cleaning and purging and now I'm at it again today.

One hiccup so far...DH HATES my dresser...I've had it forever and I love it. I'll post a pic later lol but he thinks it's ugly and tacky bc it's just "boring white". It probably doesn't help that the thing weighs like 10000 lbs and he has had to move it a zillion times. So now the issue is this....I NEED a dresser...he has never used a dresser ( drives me nuts) he really doesn't want to move it again and he hates it so much anyway that we are going to get a new one...we searched all over last night and didn't really know how much to spend. His other issue is that he wants a TV, more than a dresser since he doesn't use one. I told him it's silly for me not to have a dresser for weeks so that he can have a new TV. Am I wrong??? We're thinking about $100-150 for the dresser and $350 for a TV. Do I go without a dresser for a while so we can have a TV?

Other than that it's going very well. A few weird things I could use help on though;

we don't have a pantry in the new place OR a linen closet. I don't know where to store all of our vitamins and lotions, towels, washcloths, sheets, ect. Any advice would be so appreciated.

Oh, yeah, and it is a little sad to be leaving. I mean, you all know how badly I've wanted this, but this is the first place we lived after getting married, and we've had wonderful support from his parents. It's kinda sad. That and the cats. I'm sad to leave them. One is my MIL's and one I bought for my husband about 10 years ago. We can't take him bc I'm deathly allergic to him and the guy we're renting from said no pets anyway. Crying I love the cats.

Well this was unbelievably long, lol sorry. I'm off to keep packing! Thanks for reading :-)

    I don't have a linen closet in our apartment either. I put all our towels and washcloths (and TP) in the cabinets under the sink. If you don't have cabinets... well I'm at a lose then. We also have this tall almost floor to ceiling cabinet that our bath/personal essentials go in. I also store bathroom cleaning supplies in that. If you have no cabinets at all in the bathroom, you could try getting an over the toilet cabinet or shelf system. I know that Target sells them at a pretty reasonable price. (For Example: http://www.target.com/Dawson-Space-Saver/dp/B001KFBYQS/ref=sc_ri_1?ie=UTF8&node=4035691)

    I can also recommend buying one of those plastic rolling drawer things. I have 2 that are 3 drawer and stand about 3 feet high. I bought 'em in college and still use them. One is beside me bed for a "nightstand" kind of thing and the other is in the closet for storage purposes. (Kinda like this, except mine have wheels)

     As for a pantry... do you have any random closets semi-close to the kitchen? What about a laundry area? Either of those could work or double as a pantry. My BFF uses a storage closet as well as a small 5 foot tall cabinet that she had originally bought for her college dorm and now uses for pantry purposes. (Looks sorta like this)

  • We don't have any linen closets either. The in-laws combined an outside closet and a linen closet to create a second closet in the master bedroom (we rent from them). We store our towels on the upper shelf in our closets. The last place we lived didn't have a pantry so we just used cabinet space to store things that go in a pantry. It was actually a corner lazy Susan so it worked out well.
