Weekly Book Post!

I just picked up The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. I don't know why it never occured to me to read them before, since I loved the movies! (And yes, like all movies, I realize they probably won't be exactly like the books) Looking forward to starting The Da Vinci Code later today :)

Re: Weekly Book Post!

  • Both of those are great reads, Val - they'll go quickly!

I decided to re-read Gone with the Wind (for the third time). It's my favorite!

  • I umm, haven't had much time to read this week! However, I have started listening to the original Dexter books on CD.   I also started reading Sin in the Second City like someone suggested a couple weeks ago. I am only about 20 pages into it, but  I was sort of surprised to find out that the old redlight district was part of our old neighborhood!!  We lived in the South Loop- and there were a couple places we would often go that are right near where the Everleigh Club was. Heck, I down that stretch of Cermak (22nd St.) every day!   Levee District
  • I am reading Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.  It is amazing.  I just wish I had more time to read now that my summer class started!  I HIGHLY recommend it!

  • I finally finished The Piano Teacher.  I moved on to The Help, which is MUCH more interesting.  I'm almost all the way through it in 3 days, and I can't wait to find out what happens!

  • I read Skipping A Beat this past week and finished it today.  Very slow in the beginning and I was skipping some parts but am glad I kept going through it.  It was good and surprising in the end.  I am starting Summer in the City, the sequel to The Carrie Diaries (which I really liked even though it was also slow in the beginning) and it is the book which she meets Miranda and Samantha.
  • Val - I've read all of Dan Brown's books....I like them all!

I picked up Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin this weekend but haven't really read much yet. MIL also gave me Smokin Seventeen by Janet Evanovich. I might read that first before I get too far into Emily Giffin.
