I don't really think of myself as a food snob, but I generally try to avoid fast food when I can. If I'm in a hurry and I need a quick meal or if I'm traveling/on the road, I'll eat it, but I'd always prefer to eat something a little more healthy or even in a little nicer environment.
I ask b/c I was surprised this weekend when we saw some friends (w/ 3 kids) and when we were leaving the Dad was saying how much he wanted to go to McDonalds' for lunch. We passed b/c we needed to get home for DD's nap, but they didn't have the same restraints b/c their kids were older and they didn't need to be anywhere for a few hours, plus I know the wife and she's always got tons of healthy options at home.
Re: would you/do you eat fast food by choice?
I would love to be able to get fast food, but due to diet restrictions (no gluten!), its difficult. We do get Chipotle pretty often though (mmm burrito bowl).
I dream of delivery pizza and mcdonalds french fries nom nom nom.
It's rare that I'll crave McDonald's specifically, but sometimes all I want is some greasy food - a burger and fries. We've been eating it too much lately because I've had a tough time staying on top of meal planning, but in general, it's a once-in-awhile thing for us, so I don't concern myself with it.
Same here. There are a few times a year when I just HAVE to have a quarter pounder with cheese, but for the most part I just don't like it.
I very rarely crave fast food. For lunches I stop at places like Chipotle and Cosi but the McDonalds, Burger Kings and Wendys are maybe once a year? H is a huge Chick fil A fan, so when we're near one we generally go (a couple times a year...there are none by us).
Oh and I love Sonic cream slushes, but not their actual food.

Sometimes, I just really want a greasy burger and fries.

Admittedly, our schedule results in us grabbing something fast more often than we'd like (although we try to do better choices, like Subway), but I definitely don't crave fast food on a regular basis. The only thing that will hit me maybe twice a year is the need for a Burger King cheeseburger, which we always joke goes back to my mom's pregnancy w/me, when the ONLY thing she craved for the entire 9 months was BK cheeseburgers.
DH's weakness is pizza, so he tries for that pretty frequently, but I do my best to shoot him down.
Really, for us, we try to balance it out - moderation is key!
... every single day of forever.
No, I had it a lot as a child driving to dance class and sports after school... and I think I got my fill... I will get McDonald's breakfast if I have a hangover, but the hash brown grosses me out the way it tastes like beef. DH was never allowed to have it as a kid so now he actually makes a conscious effort to eat fast food.
So I avoid it and if DH wants to go or it's our only option, I will get chicken or a salad. I do like Chik-Fil-A and for some reason I feel better about places like Chipotle or Panera.
Fast food is terrible for you but the way I see it is I would consume the same amount of calories in a "real" restaurant (between drinks, apps, entree, and dessert).
We eat it WAY too often. Our schedules suck right now and sometimes we only get to see LO for an hour before bed time. I'd rather spend the time with her than cooking. We really need to get a handle on this now though, becuase LO is eating more and more table food and we don't want her eating fast food.
I do think it is kind of funny that us not wanting to pass bad habits onto our progeny is what is getting us out of the fast food habit.
The only place I really crave is chick-fil-A. That is because they fry their chicken in crack. I love their food. But even so, its only once a month or so. I couldn't eat it several times a week, because greasy stuff doesn't always sit well with me.
I'm also embarrassed to say that I can't get enough of McDonald's bacon egg & cheese bagel sandwiches while I am pregnant. It happened when pg with DS too-so weird, since usually McDonald's is not that appetizing to me (all their food has that same taste/smell). There is a McD's fairly close to my dr's office so it is like my treat to myself after every appt where I haven't gained too much weight. lol.
I don't really consider chipotle, panera, etc fast food, nor carryout pizza.
I'm with remy, I don't put panera, etc in the same category as McDonalds, Wendys, etc. The only fast food we really eat is Chick-fil-a, and that is maybe once a month on a really busy night. Part of it is that isn't not healthy and makes me feel gross after eating it, the other is a $ thing; a year ago we decided to make a concentrated effort to make the majority of our meals at home. We even try and do pizza at home, buying our own crust and then adding our own toppings.
I typically only eat it while traveling or if I need a quick snack. I do sometimes have random cravings though. Typically for a Mexican Pizza from Taco Bell.
ETA: There is one fast food place I make sure to go to at least once every time I visit NC. It's called COOKOUT and they have amazing milkshakes (TONS of flavors). The burgers & BBQ are great too. I do really miss having one of those around.

The closest I get is Panera. The last time I ate at McDonalds was June 2005 at one near the convention center in Chicago. I refuse to eat there for a myriad of reasons (social, the food, etc. etc.) Since I don't eat meat, there aren't a whole lot of options for me there anyway. I really don't like salad, either.
I think the last time I ate Subway was in April and Chick-fil-a was December? There is one near me, but because of their stance on homosexuals, DH doesn't eat there and I am not inclined to support them.
I do have that rare craving for McDonalds fries or a burger and will sometimes give in, but generally speaking the only time we eat fast food is when we travel (and if it were up to me I would rather pack lunch/snacks but that rarely happens) or when I forget my lunch at work--even then I'll grab a slice of pizza which I don't consider fast food.
The only FF I eat daily is Dunkin donuts... I may get a donut or muffin once a week. But that is my treat to myself!
