How often do you have to wash diapers in order for them to not smell?

I would consider CD at night/weekends since DC doesn't accept them, but I worry my laundry would stink because I would have to wait five days or so before I would have enough to justify a load.

Every 2-3 days. Waiting 5 days in the summer would be seriously gross. Your neighbors would complain about the smell wondering if you stuffed a body under the porch.

You wouldn't want to wait 5 days. If you started CDing when you got home Friday night and ended Monday morning, that would be plenty for a full load. You could wash Monday night and be good to go!

Just curious - why won't they take cloth? Did they actually see the diapers before they refused them?

The reason I ask is because I went in with my BG AIOs and said, "this is what we use. All you do differently is put it in my wet bag that I'll provide daily. It keeps all of the smell in and I'll take the wet bag home each night." They also saw Owen's bleeding butt when Pampers changed to the dry max before we knew it was different so they understood why I was worried about rash when I talked to them. I didn't really give them the chance to say no, but they've been more than awesome about it. Home or center?

Thanks for the honesty. We do have a HE washer, so I'm not so worried about water use, but time. I don't want to be drying dipes until 11:00 at night.

I'll ask daycare again. I have a friend starting there who would be interested in cloth as well, so maybe we'll have to "gang up" on them.

If you wash them Monday night and won't need them til Friday evening you can just lay them on a drying rack. It's really no fuss that way and they'll be ready for Friday.

I do agree with Nancy though, I think a frank conversation with daycare is good. When we interviewed DH brought out one of our diapers and said this is what we use, showed her how to use it and she was cool with it. That doesn't mean he doesn't have leaks from time to time.

Wouldn't that make the most sense because otherwise I will be buying a lot of diapers if I change him every 3 hrs or so? I would CD Fri night, Sat, Sun and Mondays (on the days I don't work.

NO NO NO!!!!

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of gDiapers that you can buy at Whole Foods. We did those for about 6 months (??) and they were the worst 6 months ever diaper wise. I tried SO HARD to like them but they suuuuuuck. I, on a whim, bought a BumGenius organic diaper. I was SHOCKED at how much easier it was than the dumb gDiaper. Go full on cloth. My 2 favorites have turned out to be BumGenius Organic OneSize diapers as well as the BumGenius 4.0 pockets.

Oh, she's never said anything but she apologizes profusely when he goes through 3 pairs of pants in a day. Honestly, I think she doesn't change him often enough because they are SOAKED through, it doesn't appear to be user error. My kid drinks a ton and pees a ton. He's a super soaker

I would try Fuzzi Bunz or FLips with a changable insert. I only CD at night and weekends since our daycare complained too much and I was done with hearing the comments. I wash every 3 days.

I love our rump a rooz! So much like a regular disposable diaper that even my stepkids change Sawyer's diapers.

If you like, I have a thirstie and 3 fuzzibunz (small) that I'm selling for $9 each. This would give you an idea but not spend the cash.
