How is everyone today? I have a lot of my mind and it's not good
Re: Tuesday Randoms
I hate it when I have that Charity.
Anyone remember MacGyver? It was a TV Show in the 80's. SS has discovered it on netflix and is watching it and loving it. Anybody have any shows from the past that like to sit and watch if given the chance.
I have finally discovered a Kate Middleton fashion blog. Finally!

Anyone here remember my lovely family pictures I had to take a few years ago....the ones where we were color coordinated by family. I got assigned blue, thus making bald-headed Allison look even more like a boy than what she was looking at the time.
We had to go to P o t r a i t I nn ov ations (I don't wan't this post to be "Googleable" I can see my sisters doing a search for their website and coming across this). Basically they went through about 20 different possible group shots in like 20 minutes. There was no thought put into set up or editing pictures. In order to get a large family shot printed, I had to crop half of my niece's body out or otherwise you would have seen the mismatched props they had us sit on.
Well my sister sent out an email last night saying she wants my parents to take pictures with the grandkids and we are going to PI. Head smack on desk.
And the thing is that my other sister knows of a really inexpensive photo over there. I replied in an email that i would rather go that route, so we can get group shots but some nice casual candid shots of my parents with the kids. To me those photos would mean so much more to mean than the fake, cheesy poses.
But nope, we are going to end up with a photo of arms on people's shoulders, "heads tiltled just a little bit to the right", and people sitting on banged up stolls that won't be cropped out of the picture.
Yep, I'm a photo snob. I freely admit it.
You just became my hero for posting this.
Yikes - Sorry about the photo drama GVSU.
Have I mentioned I love my bike yet? Because I do. We got it Thursday night, rode on Friday, Sunday and are going out again tonight. I'm going to contemplate biking to work (it's just under 10 miles away) once I get more comfortable. Oh, and I should add after our first ride Friday we ordered some padded bike shorts almost immediately. :-)
No, you just have good taste!
You're a much nicer sister than I. I would put my foot down and say "No, I'm not doing that". Especially if they expect you to help pay for part of it. No, thank you!
LOL. Glad you got your bike. I too have a set of padded bike shorts so does DH and he's a big time biker. The more you ride the better it gets.
I'm like Wop, I'd do the same thing.
But I've been spoiled by amazing and awesomely priced photos, too. Hehe.
Did you by chance find a good deal on padded bike shorts? I need some and have been looking for them, but I'm being a cheap ass and haven't bought any yet.
Yay! Good job!
HR says my annual review must be completed by July 1. My boss hasn't mentioned it at all. I haven't reminded her. I'm willing to put it off as long as possible. I've always had great reviews, but.. meh... they're just uncomfortable.
Yay - Congrats!!
Yes, we went with nashbar.com - as recommended by Deeder and a few other people. :-)
These were the shorts I ordered - at least I think those are the ones, the order history is under Andy and I can't pull it up at the moment. :-)
Ours are due July 1st too! I emailed my boss yesterday asking him when mine was. Normally I think they are uncomfortable too, but I've been working hard at kicking ass here lately, so I was more confindent going into this one. I love that I'm being recognized for my hard work - it' a great reward.
Ack, there's a ton of them! And they all look the same! Now, I must read about them instead of just looking at the pictures.
Seriously, thanks for the link though. I had been looking at Andiamo brand, but I'll check these out.
luckily I only have to spend $20 or so. I will probably buy one set of prints of all the grandkids to have with my parents.
Padded bike shorts rock my world.
JuliD - So cool that you plan to bike to work. Mike has been doing it the last few weeks. Even through the rain! Hopefully there is a good path or trail part of the way for you.
gvsu - Sheesh about the pictures. Have you been assigned another color this time?
Speaking of bikes....I am in the market for one.
I would just be a mega casual rider...I don't need anything special right? I've been looking on CL for a while and am drawn to the vintage style bikes. H seems to think that would be a bad fit for me. He calls it a "granny bike" and he thinks I need a new bike that has 18 bajillion speeds. I disagree, as I'm planning on using the bike for casual rides. Thoughts? This is the one I'm currently interested in (which has 10 speeds, TYVM H):
Would it be dumb to buy a used, vintage bike?
Hoek - how many kids do you have? I cant remember!
Just one little guy!
I think that bike is so cute! I would love a little stylish bike to ride on for super short distances. Like around the hood and to dinner. I would just make sure it is in good condition. Make sure the tires don't look too worn down, no rust (inspect the chain) and definitely test drive it. Make sure it is a comfortable fit for your height and reach and that you can shift gears easily. Oh - and make sure the seat is comfortable to you.
The first few miles are fairly rural (not a lot of cars) then there's a couple mile stretch where it's a touch busier and just the one lane - that's what I'm most worried about. The last 5 miles are all bike trail though.
D&M - You don't need a lot of gears if you're just cruising a mile or two here and there w/o any hills, so I would think anything could work that was comfortable for you - a hybrid or one of those beach combers.
GVSU: That picture debacle was a few years ago?! Seriously seems not that long ago. But yeah I would speak up, or put your foot down.
(It just took me way too long to figure out how to spell "debacle". Sigh. . .)
Appts 1 and 2 are done for this week. And went great. Except Dr says he doesn't expect baby to be making an appearance anytime soon. Darn.
That doesn't sound too bad. Enjoy the ride.
Yay for great appointments!
Doctors can't predict when a baby will come, so you never know! But if he takes his time, try to enjoy it. He'll be here before you know it, and then when he is 18 months old, you'll be getting "pregnant" fever again.

Yes - I hear this is going around .
I just ordered these.
Signed,
Copycat
Ha ha, yay! Hopefully they work well for both of us!
