Salary vs Salaried?

The Nest is the only place I've ever seen this, but I see it all the time here. Many people write:

"I am salary" or "DH has a good job. He is salary."

I've always said, "I am salaried." I call the income I earn a "salary."

Have I been wrong along? Is this some strange regional thing?

  • No. It's just one of the many people who don't spell/use grammar correctly.

Yep, I just assume people are ignorant. It's similar to when people say, "I'm OCD" or "I'm ADD." Really? You are obsessive-compulsive disorder or attention-deficit disorder? Interesting.

I am guessing you don't see that misuse of salaried/salary on this board much.

Actually, someone called herself "salary" in a post on here just today... I assume that's what sparked the OP's post. Wink

Yes (sorry, to whomever posted it, but you're definitely not the only one---I see it at least once every couple of weeks if not more.)
